Happy New Year! 2017! Amazing! We hope you all had a wonderful holiday!We want to say Thank You so much to all of you who follow along or even just stop by once in awhile to say ‘hello.’ We couldn’t keep going without all you support and encouragement for what we do. We have been missing quite a bit around here lately, but here is the reason…

2016 was a year of a lot of changes here in our household. Lauren moved twice, we moved after living in the same house for 23 years, we brought not one, but two puppies home, and we went to Hawaii! Wow! I am hoping for a little more calm in my 2017. How about you? Do you pick a word for the year or already have plans? I can’t wait to see what 2017 will bring!

For now I thought we would look back at 2016 and see what some of the top posts were for the year. Starting with number 10.

10. Blue and White Folding Chair Makeover

I had been wanting to do this makeover for some time and finally found just the right fabric. I love how they turned out and it was so simple too.

9. Pallet Project Update-Plate Rack

I loved this makeover! I can’t wait to find the perfect spot for it in my new house!

8. Old Drawer Recycled to an Organizer

It’s great how an old drawer can become something useful. There are so many ideas for them.

7. Fabulous Vintage Beverage Cart

I picked up this cart for only $10 at a yard sale. It has great vintage charm! Its fun to decorate and use for all different occasions too.

6. 2016 Ornament Exchange

This was my second year participating in the ornament exchange and it was so much fun! I love creating something for someone else. That’s part of what Christmas is all about!

5. Upcycled Coffee Cans for Bridal Shower

More upcycled and recycled projects. I love these the best!

4. Upcycled Old Metal TV Trays

I was actually kind of surprised at this one, but I guess you all like the recycled projects too!

3. Springtime Concrete Painted Planter

You guys…this one makes me shake my head every time. It’s such a simple project and it received so many views!! You just never know what projects are going to be popular.

2. Recovering my Outdoor Swing (I cheated a little!)

I think it was the cheating part that everyone liked! 🙂

1.A Lacy Look for an Everyday Item

And our number 1 project!! Another recycled/upcycled one! I guess I know what you all like to see and read about!

It’s nice to go back sometimes and actually see everything you have accomplished over the year. It’s easy to just look at all that needs done and forget about everything you have accomplished.

It’s a New House!

Hey everyone! With finals coming up for me (Lauren) and mom and dad officially moving this weekend, I thought it would be time to show off the small house tour that we recorded. The house already looks quite different which we will show in future blog posts, but here is the house how we bought it!

Hope that you enjoyed our home tour. It will look so good when we finally get everything finished. I can’t wait to get everything moved in!

Drawstring Dishtowel Christmas Gift Bag

Good news!! We closed on our house! Finally! We closed late Friday and have been working on painting and other projects all weekend. We will try to finish a few more things this week and will be moving our stuff in next weekend. I can hardly believe it! I’m excited about the projects I want to do, but it will take awhile to get them all done. But a home is never finished, right? I’m sure there will always be things to do.

So, I won’t be having any Christmas decor for you, but I do have a few crafts. These are all pretty simple and don’t take a whole lot of work, but they look great and add just the right holiday touches. These bags turned out so cute! I can’t wait to use them next year for my Christmas decorations!

I found my dishtowels at Hobby Lobby. I bought 2 of the same design, but you could use coordinating ones too.

I pinned the right sides together and sewed up the 2 long sides and one short side, leaving the top open.

Keeping the bag inside out, I folded over the top edges and sewed it, making a pocket for the ribbon to run through. Leave a little open at one end to run the ribbon through.

I used a safety pin at the end of the ribbon to make it easier to thread through the opening. I pushed it through by holding the pin through the fabric, gathering fabric and then pulling the excess back towards the beginning.

Once your ribbon is through, you can fill up the bag with gifts and other goodies, gather the top of the bag and tie it in a pretty bow!

I really like how cute these look. I think they will look great under the tree. They will add a little farmhouse to your Christmas!
