Starbucks Caramel Snickerdoodle Macchiato

There are many times where we go into a Starbucks or Jamba Juice and someone orders a drink you had never heard of.  Did you just miss it on the menu?  Or did they just come up with something off the top of their head?

Well…a little bit of both.

These are normally secret menu items.  Items that the restaurant may know how to make, but at the same time, the restaurant may not know how the drink is made.  You can either take a chance on if they know the drink or you can find a recipe online.

Or, I can make it even easier.

Thanks to hackthemenu.com, anyone can see secret items and how they are made.  And I have taken a challenge to try all of these drinks from Starbucks and Jamba Juice and write a review of the drink for you.

This should be fun to see what happens, though it may not be so fun on my wallet.

Caramel Snickerdoodle Macchiato

Caramel Snickerdoodle

Now, whenever I think of a snickerdoodle, I think of a warm cookie that just came out of the oven.  A cookie that is warm and gooey and super messy and breaks apart when you dip it in a giant glass of milk.  Anyone besides myself drooling at the image I have just presented you?

Unfortunately…this drink is a cold drink.

But, I will say that drink is delicious.  This drink really does taste like a Caramel Snickerdoodle.  Even cold, it tastes very good.

This drink is based off of the Iced Soy Caramel Macchiato.  But, it needs to be made upside down.  Why?  Well, if the drink is made upside down, the flavors will mix.  There is also vanilla syrup and Cinnamon Dolce syrup.  This makes the flavor complete in the drink.

I think that this drink is delicious.  Even if you are not someone who enjoys a lot of coffee.  I enjoy coffee if it’s in a frapp, but won’t drink it by itself.  But I do enjoy this drink.  Have you ever tried a secret menu item?  Let me know in the comments below.

Starbucks Raspberry Cheesecake Mocha Frappuccino

Raspberry Cheesecake Mocha Frappuccino

raspberry cheescake mocha frapp

Doesn’t this sound absolutely delicious?  Now, I love cheesecake, and I REALLY love raspberry cheesecake, so this drink sounded absolutely perfect for me.

So I walked into my local Starbucks and showed the barista my drink order, and it was made for me.  Now, I give the barista props for actually knowing that my drink was a secret menu item and asking what the name of the drink is.  Thank you for not questioning why I handed you my cell phone saying “I would like to order this”.

This drink not only looked pretty, (because, remember, I’m kind of addicted to pink things) but it tasted good as well.  It was sweet, but not too overpowering where I felt like I needed to take a drink of water to clear my pallet.  But honestly, it wasn’t anything fantastic.

Now, you may be wondering, is this drink based off of the Strawberries and Creme Frappuccino? Couldn’t you just substitute raspberry instead of strawberry and add other flavors like vanilla?”  Um…no.  This drink is actually based off of the White Chocolate Mocha Frappuccino.   And to be clear, I didn’t know the White Chocolate Mocha Frapp existed before I ordered this drink.  But I don’t think that you can just substitute raspberry for strawberry…maybe I should try that next time.

So why wasn’t this drink absolutely fantastic like my drinks in past reviews?  I didn’t really get the cheesecake.  I mean, come on.  It’s in the name.  Raspberry Cheesecake Mocha Frappuccino.  I got the raspberry, and I got a little bit of mocha, but I never felt like I was actually drinking the equivalent of eating a raspberry cheesecake while drinking a mocha.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I liked the drink.  It just was underwhelming.  Would I recommend it?  Yeah, if you want something sweet.  But I wouldn’t order this if you are having a major craving for eating raspberry cheesecake while drinking a mocha.  Just saying.

As I always say, do you have a drink that you have tried from a secret menu?  If so, let me know in the comments.  I would love to try out a secret menu item that I have been recommended.  Check out the other secret menu items that I have reviewed and let me know in the comments if you have tried any of the drinks I have reviewed!

Starbucks Ferrero Rocher Frappuccino

There are many times where we go into a Starbucks or Jamba Juice and someone orders a drink you had never heard of.  Did you just miss it on the menu?  Or did they just come up with something off the top of their head?

Ferrero Rocher Frappuccino

ferrer rocher frapp

This drink is the Ferrero Rocher Frappuccino from Starbucks.  According to hackthemenu.com, this drink is based off the Double Chocolate Chip Frappuccino with extra flavor like hazelnut and mocha. I was a bit skeptical when I saw this on hackthemenu.com because, honestly, who can recreate a Ferrero Rocher?  I mean, a candy that is so delicious that you have to eat multiples…yum! But, I decided to try this to see how well Starbucks could recreate a Ferrero Rocher.

When I walked into the local Starbucks before my night class, I was prepared.  I had the recipe on my phone, ready to show the barista when they didn’t know what I was talking about.

And…that’s exactly what happened.

Here’s how the conversation went. “Hello, welcome to Starbucks.  What can I get started for you?” “Hi.  Can I get a Ferrero Rocher Frappuccino?” “Yeah…wait…do you have a recipe?” (Imagine me pulling out my phone and showing the barista the recipe)  “Okay…the only thing we don’t have the hazelnut drizzle.  Do you want a caramel drizzle instead?” “Yeah.  That should work.” Okay, so you get the point.  My drink gets made, and wallah!  A Ferrero Rocher Frappuccino. ferrer rocher frapp

Doesn’t it look delicious?

So I got to my car, took a drink…and said out loud “OH MY GOSH! THIS IS AMAZING!!!!!”  Starbucks has done it!  They created a drink that actually tastes like a Ferrero Rocher candy.  This drink is very sweet and rich, but it is still somewhat refreshing.  For me, the candy taste came more as an aftertaste than a taste when I was drinking the frappe.  You could definitely taste the caramel and hazelnut in the drink, but it didn’t take away from the idea of a Ferrero Rocher candy.

So would I get this drink again?  Probably, but I would only get a tall because it is a bit pricey with all the extras in the drink.  I paid $4.55 for a tall…ugh.  I also don’t know if I could handle the richness of the drink if I had a larger frappe.  But, if you like the taste of a Ferrero Rocher, be my guest to buy a larger drink.

I have also reviewed a Strawberry Lemonade from Starbucks.  Click on the name of the drink to go read that post.

Let me know if there are any Secret Menu Items that you want me to try.  I am willing to take suggestions and write a review about them.

Blended Strawberry Lemonade

strawberry-lemonade

Let me start off by saying that this is a very popular drink.  So much so, that this is the drink I normally order when it is 150+° in California.

I don’t think the Central Valley has ever reached 150+°, but you get the point.

This is a no coffee drink which is perfect for those who despise the taste of coffee.  It is smooth and icy, which helps to cool you off in the summer.  You can order just a plain Strawberry Lemonade, but where would be the fun in that?  The Strawberry Lemonade, un-blended, is a nice drink if you want it to accompany your lunch or dinner.

But we are talking about the Blended Strawberry Lemonade, so let’s go and review that.

This drink is absolutely delicious.  It is cool and icy, so it has a slushie taste to it.  The drink will stay cool, unless you leave it for a very long time to warm up.  It is also a drink that kids could have since there is no coffee  This drink is also a fairly priced, less than $4 for a Venti.  And finally, you can add other flavors to this drink, like mocha and white chocolate.  My personal favorite is mocha because you then get a chocolate covered strawberry drink.

So when you go to Starbucks, you can go ahead and say you want this drink.  No need to bring your own recipe.  The baristas know the drink, so go ahead and order away.

This is just the beginning of this kind of blog.  There are so many secret menu items, and I will take the time to try them all.  Let me know in the comments if there is an item on the secret menu that you want me to try.
