Bringing Fall to the Back Porch

Good morning! I know I have been away for a bit and I am trying to get back in the swing of teaching and blogging. So far, teaching is winning out! ūüôā I have all sorts of projects spinning round in my head, but by the time I am done teaching, I don’t have much energy left. Thanks for sticking with me though. I will be trying to get a few more projects out to you all!

I was looking back through my posts from last year and saw this one. I liked this one so much, I thought I would share it with you again.

A few weeks ago, I bought a variety of pumpkins, both small and big. I had to buy them at the supermarket, since our pumpkin patches weren’t open yet. Lol.

I used them on my back patio. I actually see my back patio more than the front, and I wanted to be able to enjoy the fall decor all season.

I used little white pumpkins along with faux leaves and acorns in a glass container.

I added a couple more pumpkins to my potting bench too. I made my acorn garland a few years ago, using the acorns from the oak tree in our old backyard.

There are so many ways to decorate with pumpkins all over the house or outside. I like setting one on top of a terracotta pot for the different textures.

I hung up this old window from the edge of the patio. I love the chippiness and the charm it brings to my outdoor space.

A big orange striped pillow, a soft throw, and a few pumpkins make this a cozy place to hang out.

Aren’t these mugs adorable?! I found these at #HomeGoods. They had dogs on them, so I had to get them!

I kept things really simple. Just adding small touches here and there.

Tucking a small pumpkin into your potted plants is a great place to add fall to your decor too.

It’s so nice to look out the window and see touches of fall. Thank you again for stopping by!

Apple Recipes

Hello!¬† It’s almost fall, right?¬† Maybe…¬† Okay, so here in California it is nowhere near fall, it is still very hot.¬† But, one of my favorite things about fall is apple foods.¬† Apple Cider, apple fritters, caramel apples, the list goes on.¬† So I decided to start a little early and give you a bunch of apple recipes that made my mouth water.

PS-if you want an awesome apple drink from Starbucks, get the Caramel Apple Spice.  It is a wonderful fall drink.

Enjoy!

Gold, White and Fall Leaves Tablescape

Good morning everyone! Is your weather cool now or maybe cold? Brrr! We have had some beautiful days and even some much needed rain! It’s been so nice. One of the downfalls in our area, is that we don’t really have a very long fall. Our trees are just starting to change color now and then suddenly it will be cold. That’s it…all done. I just try to enjoy these days while they are here.

Even though the outside trees aren’t in full color yet, I can bring some of it inside to enjoy. I decided to put a tablescape together for a soup party since the weather has been cooler. My only issue was that many of my dishes were already packed away for the move. So here I was, digging through boxes I just had packed looking for various pieces! Thankfully, I had labeled the boxes fairly well and was able to find things without to much digging.

I love the Autumn Leaves String Light! This is perfect for transitioning into Christmas lights. It looks so pretty along the center of the table. I used another one along the back of the buffet too.

I used lots of gold and white and then added in several natural elements, such as the leaves, Burlap Mini Drawstring Bags and burlap ribbon and a Pinecone Votive holder.

I love these Gold Birch Napkins! They are nice and thick, but soft too, so they aren’t rough on your fingers.

I used Premium White Dessert Plates with Gold Edging and Premium Gold Trim White Bowls to serve Taco Soup and chips. Delicious on a cool night!

I love these Burlap Mini Drawstring Bags! I added a few caramels inside for sweet treat dessert.

I think this Pinecone Votive Holder adds just the right touch to a fall table. Actually, it could be used at Christmas time too, along with the gold and white theme. Perfect transition!

Golden Yellow Fall Tablescape

Good morning! Are you ready for a new week? Just an update on the house…we got an offer and accepted it within 4 days of putting the house on the market!!! Woo hoo!! God is good! Now we just have to worry about the inspection, and hope nothing major comes up. We have been looking at houses and it is making my head hurt. ūüôā I know I am being pretty picky, but we will probably never buy another house, so I want this one to be one we will be in for a very long time. The right one will come along!

I set up a very simple tablescape for the blog this week. It’s a little difficult to come up with stuff¬†to post¬†since I am packing a lot of it up! But I do still have my dishes out, so you might be seeing a lot of place settings!

I used my white tablecloth and then used golden yellow and white napkins for the placemats. I have been wanting to try this out for awhile and I do like how it turned out. The plates on the bottom were the dishes I received for my wedding. They are called Blue Peony and are white with a little bit of blue around the edges and some flowers in the middle. I paired them with a grey plate and a smaller white plate. The napkins are kind of a greyish blue and I found some ribbon in my stash that was just the right color yellow. I used mismatched silverware this time. I have been picking up miscellaneous pieces from thrift stores when I see them. A mug for something warm and some iced tea finish it up.

fall-2016-yellow-gold-tablesetting

For the centerpiece, I used a ceramic pot which looks like a stump and placed some sunflowers inside, with a few other various stems. I put some small pumpkins and gourds inside a black candle lantern. I added a couple others onto the galvanized tray.

I think the secret to a nice looking place-setting is the layering of the different pieces. It looks so nice to have all the different shapes and colors.

I hope you all have a great week and see you next time!
