What I Learned about Myself in a Month

Hello!  Today, I am proud to say that I have been living by myself for a whole month!  Hooray!  I haven’t died yet, or maybe I did and my ghost is writing this.

But during this month I came to realize some things about myself.  Things that I had assumed but didn’t fully come to know until now.

1. I actually don’t mind cooking.

I know!  I have always said that I don’t like to cook.  But, I think that I didn’t like to cook because I was afraid of people judging how I was cooking.  And so if I did something wrong or burned something, I would be humiliated.  But now that I live alone, no one can judge me!  So I actually don’t mind cooking for myself.

2. My bed is my favorite place to sit.

In all actuality, I am sitting on my bed typing out this blog.  Funny right?  I think I enjoy it so much because I am still not used to living by myself and don’t have to keep to my room.  I could go sit on the couch, but I have found myself happier sitting in my bedroom and watching YouTube on my laptop rather than on the TV.  I’m sure that I will move more toward the couch as I live here longer, but for now my bed is my favorite.

3. I can expand on my love of glitter because the apartment is all mine!

I have never been able to decorate the whole house since I have always moved in with people.  So now that I had the chance to decorate with my stuff, I have gone a little glitter crazy!  My blingy pictures are hung up and there is tons of pink sparkly items.  Huzzah!

4. I blame all random noises on my cats.

Yep…I mean…I think everyone does this at least once.  But I hear something fall over or something that I can’t see be moved…it’s definitely Target or Amelia, not the ghost.  Am I the only one who does this?

5. I have used all of my possible weapons as decoration.

Okay so maybe I like decorating a little too much, but I realized I have nothing to protect myself in an easy spot.  My frying pans are all hidden away in cupboards and my knitting needles are hid away in the corner.  My trusty heavy candlesticks…covered with mason jars and flowers.  Yep…maybe I need to redecorate.

6.  I absolutely love being by myself.

I was very skeptical about living alone, but I have realized that it is perfect for me.  I don’t have to worry about being considerate to anyone else in the house and I could walk around naked if I wanted.

No…I don’t do that.  Never have, never will.

But in all seriousness, I love being by myself.  It is scary at night sometimes knowing that I will be alone and my cats probably won’t protect me.  But I still like it.

If you enjoyed this post and LOVE the pictures, click on them and they will take you to past blog posts.  And I am curious.  Did anyone have these same kinds of experiences when they first lived by themselves?  Let me know in the comments!

BlitzyBlingArt Makes a Public Appearance!

Hello everyone!  So I know that I have been away for a while, and I apologize.  But, there is a reason why.

I have been working nonstop on BlitzyBlingArt.  Why would I do that?  I’m going to a craft show tomorrow.  Hooray!

Now for this craft show I am taking 50 separate pieces.  And for me, I did almost all of it by myself.  With the help from some of my friends, I was able to complete all of these pieces.

So here are some of the pieces that I am taking with me!  I hope you like them all!

First is this adorable turquoise crown.  Of course it can be made in any color, but this looks like it belongs in Frozen.

Next is this cute fat penguin.  Who doesn’t like penguins?

Then we have a Fleur de Les.  This is such a classic design that looks great in any type of decor.

Now we have a cute little pig.  The color is perfect for a pig, don’t you think?

Next we have Cinderella.  I have many different Disney silhouettes, and Cinderella is one of my favorites.  I love how elegant she looks.

Why no have a little bit of fun with emojis?  Of course I had to make a unicorn!  I love the colors and how perfect it looks.

Finally, I have a few pieces that were extremely tricky.  And this one was no exception.  This mandala was one of my favorites to work on and is definitely one of my favorites that I am taking!

So that’s it!  These are some of the 50 pieces that I am taking with me to my craft show.  I hope it goes well, and I hope I come home with less than 50 pieces!

Silk Flower Heart Canvas

Hello everyone!  February is now upon us and Valentines Day is a little over a week away.  But, that doesn’t mean that all of the Valentines Decor is complete.  Hence this project.

But, before we get started, congratulations to Sarah C. on winning the Canvas Factory Raffle!  We can’t wait to see what you have picked out!

I have been trying to find different projects for BlitzyBlingArt.  And, I went to the 99 Cent Store and found these really pretty silk flowers.  So, naturally I bought a few bunches and started my project.

The first thing I did was take all of the flowers off of their stems and cut them short so I could glue them.  Next, I cut out a heart and drew it on the canvas.

Then I started gluing.  First problem I ran into, I attempted to use Elmer’s glue.  Obviously I realized that wasn’t going to work AFTER I attempted to glue the first flower on.  Second problem, I wasn’t going to fill in the heart.  But then I realized that that as I started to put flowers around the heart, you couldn’t see the shape of the heart.

I decided to use the pink flowers around the heart and the white inside the heart.  That way the heart is a bit more obvious and you could see it.

And after lots of hot glue and a few flowers falling apart with cutting the stems off, the canvas was finished.  And it looks amazing!

The heart still isn’t very heartish (if that is even a word), but it looks really cool!  I love how it looks.  The flowers look really nice and it looks full.  I also like how it look next to my other Valentines Decor!

Valentines Day by BlitzyBlingArt

Hello everyone!  I have a really easy project that you can make just in time for Valentines Day!  I hope you enjoy!

So I am currently working on a bunch of artwork for a craft show that I will be attending in March.  As a part of attending the craft show, I need to give a small donation for a silent auction.  Because of this, I made two small canvass that go together!

(I must apologize because I made the first canvas before I thought of taking pictures for the blog.  Sorry.)

I decided I was going to make a heart and an XO.  Now, I made the heart before I took pictures, but I will show yo how I made the XO.

First, I started with I drew out the X and the O to make sure they were the right sizes.

Then you place the glue.  I followed my lines because I somehow fit the letters perfectly.

And finally TAKE PICTURES!

But, I couldn’t take just normal pictures.  I had to attempt to take pictures of my two miniature canvases with my cats Target and Amelia.

I swear I spent way too long trying to get these pictures….

But I think the tiny canvases turned out so cute!  And I mean, my cats love each other and I love them so it works out perfectly!  Especially since I am the conductor of the single train for life…………………………………………..

Lauren is Back with a Hobby Lobby Haul!

Hello eveyone!  And welcome to the new year!  I am so excited to see what 2017 has in store for me!

Speaking of stores…have any of you been to Hobby Lobby?

If you have, you can completely understand what I am talking about.  If you haven’t, then you might understand after this post.

Now, I just recently moved into a new place with someone I met on Craigslist.  Long story short, she is probably the best roommate ever because we are so alike.  We have so many similarities, it’s scary.  Oh well, Amber is awesome!

Except that she mentioned that she had never been to Hobby Lobby.  And I had to change that immediately.

So we made a pit stop at Dutch Bros Coffee (we are part of the Dutch Mafia lol) and continued to Hobby Lobby.

While shopping through the store, we bought some stuff for our back patio which is going to be a trailer park/camping/gypsy theme.  So we bought some awesome stuff to go on the patio.

First of all, how awesome is that flamingo wind chime????  I said that if we were doing the camping/trailer theme, we had to get a flamingo of some sort.  And this one is adorable so why not?  And the camper bird house?  ADORABLE!  We also bought some geckos to hang on the fence.  They were so cute we couldn’t pass it up.

And finally I bought this sign for my crafting area.

Perfect right?

Now I don’t normally plug my own stuff, but I want to tell you about my Etsy shop.  I started a shop called BlitzyBlingArt where I have stuff that looks like the British flag that I blinged out last fall.  If you want to check it out, that would be great!  I try to post stuff regularly to let people see what I sell!

Thanks for stopping by!
