Summer Coastal Dining Room

Good morning! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and were able to celebrate Father’s Day with your families! We had Haley’s graduation party on Saturday and she also bought a car that morning! It was a crazy busy weekend, but filled with good times!

I thought today I would show you a few quick pictures of my coastal dining room. I didn’t buy anything new. I just used what I had. I benefit of having most of your house decorated with neutrals or the same colors, is that you can move things around from space to space and it looks new and refreshed again!

I used a lantern as my larger piece and stacked it on a few books.

I added my glass fishing floats and lots of seashells scattered on a blue and white runner.

Red, White and Blue Outdoor Dining

Red, White and Blue Tablescape

Good morning!  We celebrate our country’s independence this week! Do you have big 4th of July celebrations where you are? I’m not even sure what we are doing this year LOL! Last year, all of the neighbors were outside eating and having fun and then lighting off tons of fireworks. We didn’t even have to go to our city’s firework show because we had our own! We will probably do the same this year.

I set up this little tablescape on my back patio this week to celebrate the 4th, but it could be for any summer get together! I don’t have much red, but I was able to pull out a few pieces and it all worked together.

The red and white plates are actually metal. They are pretty cool! I layered my blue and white plates on top along with a blue and white napkin. I used a piece of red ribbon to tie it up and added a fun little pinwheel!

Seashells are the perfect summer touch!

I layered a blue and white striped runner and a red, white and blue striped place-mat in the middle. A few more seashells, candles and bubbles keep it simple.

We still have a lot of work to do in our backyard. We would like to replace the fence and add some plants around the edge. I would also like to paint the patio. I love using blue on the ceiling.

I made the farmhouse beaded chandelier and the recycled pallet table and they add the perfect touch to the patio. I used a dropcloth to make the curtains. Using clip curtain rings makes it easy to use any kind of material.

I can’t wait to spend some time out here when the evenings cools down.

Casual Blue and White Beach Tablescape

Good morning! I haven’t been here for a few weeks, so it’s good to be back! The end of the year school stuff is wearing me out! But I have a few projects I’m working on so hopefully I can get them done and posted in the next few weeks!

I am really looking forward to summer and my dining room table reflects that. I love the beach look, so I decorated around that theme.

Blue and white are the perfect colors for summer! I use it along with the turquoise that I love so much. Of course, lanterns make an awesome centerpiece, especially filled with pieces of driftwood.

I picked up these little glass votive holders at a thrift store for just .25! I added some sand and glitter around the edge and then placed a candle in a little more sand placed in the bottom.

I love the glass floats and have started a little collection of them.

So many of my items have been picked up from Goodwill, but are Target items. The placemats,  napkins and navy blue bags were all  purchased at Goodwill. I love that I can get new items for a fraction of the price.

I added a few beach touches to my shelves too. I made the ombre’ starfish canvas a couple of years ago.

The little blue bags are great for gathering together the napkin and flatware.

Blue and White Folding Chair Makeover

HI everyone! Hope you are all well! School is about ready to start around here, although I have a couple of more weeks before I go back. It will all be here very soon!

I have a simple project for you today. You’ve probably already seen it done on Pinterest, but it is something I have been wanting to do for awhile and kept putting it off. But I will be hosting a bridal shower for Lauren’s best friend in a couple of week, so I figured I better get going on this! I had also found some fabric I liked at a yard sale this summer, so now I had no excuse.

I had these old brown folding chairs that really needed an update. They are definitely passed their era! First I unscrewed the back and the seat from the frame of the chair.

I found this tag on the bottom of the seat. I know it says model number is 1953, but I wonder if that was the date. And the price! $10.95! What a bargain!

Once the back and the seat were removed, I took the frame outside and gave it a couple coats of white spray paint and a coat of clear coat.

I love this fabric! It’s heavier than just cotton, and the colors are so much better than the brown.

I laid the fabric on the floor, with the help of Chica, and cut out the shape, about 2 inches from the edge of the chair back. This will give me enough to wrap around and staple. I also did this for the seat.

I laid the chair back on the wrong side of the fabric and made sure it was centered. I start in the middle of each side and put in one staple, then continue around.

Fabulous Finds and Fashion-Blue and White

This next weekend is a long weekend for America with Fourth of July on Monday!! So glad we can take a day to celebrate our country and it’s birthday!

I decided to to blue and white and a little red in honor of 4th of July! Haley found this shirt for me at Ross and I figured it was the perfect way to start. First I paired it with navy blue shorts and some simple silver sandals. (sorry the shorts are a little wrinkly. I’m going for the very casual look! :))

Here is a close-up of the design down the front of the shirt. So pretty!

Here I paired it with the classic denim. This could be pants, shorts or a skirt. The same silver sandals and some white earrings finish it off.

Here is to the red, white and blue! How about red jeans with the shirt. I love how this looks! Perfect for the holiday! I’m sure it will be too hot that day to actually wear this, but maybe I can find some red shorts instead. Some blue sandals and silver earrings complete the outfit.

Thanks for coming by today! If you are here in America, be sure to have a safe and wonderful holiday!
