Top 10 Things to Do in Disneyland and California Adventures

Hello! Happy Friday! We just go back from Disneyland and I thought I would share my top 10 Things we did and enjoyed during our visit.

1. MaxPass

OMG this thing is amazing!  If you have not heard of this, you are missing out.  For $10 you can get Fastpasses on your phone through the Disney App and you can download the photos from the rides and photographers.  How cool is that?  You know what else?  You can get Fastpasses every hour and a half instead of every two hours!  We didn’t use it in California Adventures because we didn’t feel like we would need it.  But it was so useful in Disneyland.  We got on every ride we wanted plus some we hadn’t been on in years.  It was amazing!  So is an picture we got from the photographers and were able to download right onto our phones.

2. Pixar Fest

If you are planning on going to Disneyland in the near future (like before October 2018), you will get to experience Pixar Fest.  This event is super cool because Disney and Pixar are coming together.  So every movie that Disney and Pixar has worked on together is coming to California Adventures.  And rides are changing to be more like Pixar, so California Screamin’ is turning into the Incredicoaster.  Here are some of the pictures from California Adventures where Pixar was everywhere!

3. Pixar’s Together Forever Event

OK!  This event is so cool!  Disney has out Disneyed themselves with this.  For this awesome event you stand in the middle of Main Street and Disney projects scenes from movies onto the buildings.  I had so much nostalgia during this and I will admit that both Haley and I were in tears from happiness from this night.  So I won’t give too much away, but here are some pictures of what you can expect.

4. Pixar Parade

Who doesn’t like parades?  Well Disneyland has a new one!  The new Pixar parade features all of our favorites like Up, Inside Out, Toy Story, and Monsters University.  Can I just say that the Kevin and Russel character from the parade is the cutest?

5. Guardians of the Galaxy

Before I get into Guardians of the Galaxy, I have to say that I was disappointed that the Tower of Terror was going to be disappearing.  BUT!  I did enjoy the new Guardians of the Galaxy.  There was a lot more going up and down which was great and it was quite enjoyable.  And even though I haven’t seen the Guardian of the Galaxy movies, I was still able to enjoy myself.

6. Electrical Parade

Okay, I will be the first to say that I love anything shiny.  So watching the electrical parade was a lot of fun.  To see how everything was lit up and bright and shiny.  One of our favorites was seeing Mac from Cars.  His whole trailer was full of lights and lit up in different patterns!  That was really cool.

7. Characters

As Haley and I have gotten older, it hasn’t been as important to see all of the characters at Disneyland.  But it’s obviously something fun for kids of all ages.  During this trip we took pictures with Minnie Mouse and Mary Poppins and Bert.  The cool thing about seeing Minnie Mouse is that she had a photographer with her and we were able to download our picture almost immediately with the MaxPass.  You can also use the Disneyland app to see where different characters are going to be in the park.

8. Rides

Of course you have to hit the rides!  It doesn’t matter if the ride is Peter Pan or Big Thunder Mountain, all rides are a must.  We rode Peter Pan, Roger Rabbit, and Matterhorn for the first time in years.  And thanks to the MaxPass we were able to get our Fastpasses and get on even faster.  You know what’s even better?  Rides like Splash Mountain and Space Mountain where they take your picture, you are able to download right onto your phone right after the ride.  Have the 8 digit id code and BOOM!  You have all of your screaming faces right in your hand.

9. Food

Try the Grey Stuff?  It’s delicious!  Don’t believe me ask the dishes!

Yes!  There is an actual treat called The Grey Stuff at Disneyland!  And it’s so good!  It’s at the Red Rose Tavern in Fantasyland.  It’s a little tiny cake with lots and lots of frosting sitting atop a shortbread cookie.  And boy howdy is it good.  The cookie was okay, but the cake and frosting.  MMMMMMMMMM!  We also tried two new restaurants, The French Market and The Hungry Bear.  We really enjoyed The French Market and have already vowed to go back to try the other things on the menu.  We had the chicken ceasar salads, french dip, and the pulled pork sandwich.  They were so good!  The Hungry Bear has your standard burger and fries.  But it was still really good.

10. Family Time

Obviously the best thing about Disneyland is getting to spend time with your family.  I love being able to experience new things with them and spend quality time with them.  Even though we have been to Disneyland numerous times, I will always enjoy going with them yet again.  I could go on each ride over and over again and I still wouldn’t get tired of visiting the parks.  All in all, the time you spend with your family is priceless and it will always be cherished.

Travel Theme Entryway

Good morning! I’m glad to be back this week! Last week was a little tough..we dropped Haley off at college! We had 2 car loads of her things to take. Thankfully, the school had big bins on wheels that we could load up and take to the rooms.  I’m not sure how many trips we would have had to take up and down stairs without that bin! Sure glad we didn’t have to find out!

I am so not ready for summer to end! I like fall too, but I just love the relaxed feeling of summer. I wish we had been able to do more traveling this summer, but instead I decorated my entryway with some California signs and other travel items. I pulled out a variety of things and then made a vignette on my door beverage table which I have placed in my entry. It’s the perfect thing to decorate for the seasons!

I cut out the CA from some maps I had, the same maps Lauren used for her Travel Sign. I used a little tape to attach them to the window. Lauren sent me the Seattle postcard when she went on her road trip.

I love these signs! I ordered them from Groupon a while back and love the vintage look they have. I placed them in some black frames I already had and hung them above my hat and California tote bag.

I cut the hole in the globe to make a hanging light, but so far I haven’t gotten around to it. Instead, I rolled up a USA map and placed it inside. When the girls were younger, I placed stars on the different states we had visited. After it’s done here in the entry,  I think I have finally found another spot for it.

A bucket and some starfish remind me of the beach. Some California gardening books and a nautical book are more hints to summer.

I found this big basket at a thrift store and love the colors! It’s the perfect thing to take a picnic in at the park or the beach. A giant conch shell and a Welcome sign invite everyone in.

Hopefully this brings back lots of good summer memories! I think this is the last of the summer decorating. Bring on autumn!!

Lauren’s Seattle Trip

Hello everyone!  I’m sorry I haven’t written in a while.  I’ve been just slightly busy…sorry…

So I was in Seattle for a week!  It was so much fun!  My roommate and I went for a roadtrip,  which was absolutely amazing!  Here is recap of our trip!

Day 1: Leaving town and headed to Medford Oregon.

We stopped at a small rest-stop about 2 hours outside of Sacramento and took pictures.  It was absolutely gorgeous!  And obviously, we had to pull over to see the Oregon sign.

Day 2: Left Medford, drove to Florence Oregon, through Salem and Portland, made our way to Seattle.

Aren’t these pictures gorgeous?  Both of these were taken in Oregon and I cannot get over how beautiful the scenery was.  It is so green!

Day 3: Seattle!  Space Needle, Chihuly Glass Museum and Pikes Place Market

These pictures are by far some of my favorites.  The Space Needle is always a beautiful landmark and I love taking pictures of it.  The Chihuly Glass Museum was Amber’s favorite thing, and the pieces were just amazing!  We also walked the 1.5 miles to Pikes Place Market where we got to look around for the first time.  Finally, we were able to go back to the Space Needle to watch the sunset.

Day 4: Zoo, Aquarium, Underground Tour

Lots of animals!  We had tons of fun walking around the zoo and the aquarium.  I loved the peacock for Haley and flamingos for mom.  We then went to the aquarium and I loved the weird feather looking thing and the clown fish.  It was fun to walk around and see what they had to offer.  We then finished the night going on an underground tour.  If you are ever in Seattle, I highly suggest doing the underground tour.  It is a lot of fun and perfect for a family!

Day 5: Harbor Cruise and Whidbey Island

The harbor cruise was about an hour long and a perfect time to relax.  We got some pictures of the skyline and lots of random pictures as well.  We also went to Whidbey Island, which was a bit of a disappointment because everything closed early on a Sunday.  Boo Hoo!

Day 6: Canada and Kerry Park

What an amazing day!  We decided to try to go to Canada since we were so close anyway.  We actually found a park called Peace Park where we could cross the border without a passport.  If we wanted to go any further, we had to have a passport.  But we did it!!!  We also headed to Kerry Park, which is supposed to be the best spot to get a skyline picture of Seattle.  Honestly, it was a good view, but not our favorite.

Day 7: Leaving Seattle to Grants Pass Oregon

Before leaving Seattle, we stopped at Gas Works Park.  We weren’t sure if it was going to be any good, but it was absolutely awesome!  It was probably our favorite place and we wished we would’ve been able to spend more time there.  Both Amber and I thought that this was a better view of Seattle than Kerry Park.  We then drove home and stopped in Salem Oregon to see the capitol.  It was beautiful!

Day 8: Sundial Bridge and home!

If you have never been to Sundial Bridge in Redding California, you should definitely go!  It is so pretty and not many people stop there.  We took lots of pictures, but I won’t show too much.

Now, I know I showed you a lot, but now it’s time for the best pictures!  I took a small stuffed elephant by the name of Tantor.  And I took pictures of him all along the trip!  So enjoy lot of pictures of Tantor!

Yeah…we took a lot of pictures of him…

And finally, we recorded ourselves in vlog fashion to keep a memory of the trip.  If you want to watch the 8 videos of our trip click Seattle Roadtrip YouTube. Hope you enjoy it!

Thanks for going through our adventure through Washington.  It was a lot of fun and we cannot wait to go on another adventure!

Finds and Fashions-Target Dollar Spot

Good morning! Happy Wednesday! Today my Finds and Fashions come from the Target Dollar Spot! Some of this stuff is so hard to resist! I shouldn’t be buying anything right now, because I will just have to pack it, but I just couldn’t pass these by. I know it won’t be there later, so I snatched them up.

I love this wooden platter with just the little touch of Christmas on the top. It could be used for a little tabletop vignette or to serve up some Christmas goodies. Maybe Santa’s cookies and milk!  And the little garland is the perfect little touch to add Christmas charm. I think I will put it around my little cows neck in the kitchen.

You know I couldn’t resist this sign! I am planning on decorating my laundry room with dog stuff, so this is the perfect addition.

What can I say? I have been a California girl my whole life! I just had to have this bag. I wonder, does Target have a different bag in each state? Probably. I also picked up the little trees you see in the corner. I don’t know if they will get used this year, but they are perfect for the little jar snow globes you see around.

That’s all the finds I have for you today! Have you found any great stuff at Target lately? Maybe a tote bag for your state?  I hope you all have a great rest of your week!
