Ideas for Winter Decor

Good morning!  We are into January and sometimes it is hard to know how to decorate once Christmas is over. The room look so bare and empty and it’s not really spring yet either. Especially when you have several feet of snow on the ground! But you can add some simple winter decor to your rooms to cozy them up a bit. I browsed through the internet a bit this week and found some great ideas!

Wisconsin Magpie came up with these great snowflake decorations. She used items she already had and put them all together in a creative way. I love these! They would be cute with a heart in them too for Valentines Day!

Yvonne over at Stonegable has 3 great winter wreaths! Doesn’t this pom-pom one looks so cozy and welcoming? I think I like this one the best.

These icicle candle holders are so cute! You could use any jar you have around, some glue and salt. Add some pretty pinecones and you have a pretty simple DIY! Go check it out at Sew Historically.

After all your decorating and crafting, you need something warm and cozy to drink. These polar bear marshmallows are adorable and yummy! Little Passports shares the easy instructions with us.

Halloween With a Few of My Favorite Bloggers!

Good morning! Halloween is only a week away! What!?!? How is that possible? I don’t really decorate for Halloween anymore, now that my girls are older, so I thought I would share some ideas from my favorite bloggers. Just click on the pictures to be taken to each ladies blog.

Of course, my first and most favorite blogger, is Karianne from Thistlewood Farms. She shared some big news this past week. She’s moving! She’s moving back to the home she grew up in. I can’t wait to see what she does with it! Here are Karianne’s Four Ideas for Inexpensive Halloween Door Decorations.

Lauren over at Bless’er House has a cool idea for marbled vases. Not too scary…just the right touch!

Kelly, over at My Soulful Home, has this cute mummy candle. Great project for the kids too!

Here is an idea that’s a little more on the creepy side! But doesn’t this look awesome? Angie, over at Knick of Time, has some great recycling ideas. I’m sure you have some spare bottles around!

Do you have any extra mason jars around the house? Linda at Mason Jar Craft Loves has loads of ideas for those jars! Just pick your favorite and start painting!

Well, it’s Halloween, so we need some treats, right? Amy at the Happy Scraps has some cute printables to add to your treats. She has lots of great ideas and I had a hard time just picking one!

How about some free printables to hang on your walls for Halloween? I love how Katrin displays them in a canvas hung backwards. Perfect touch for Halloween! She even gives you the links for the printables.

Adding to the Gallery Wall + A Giveaway!

Hello everyone!  I hope you all had a great week and you are ready for the weekend.  Did anything exciting happen during the week?

*This is a sponsored blog post and contains content from an affiliate*

I don’t know how many of you remember, but we worked with Canvas Factory before.  This website creates some of the highest quality canvas pictures and they turn out absolutely amazing!  You can either use a picture that is already on their website or you can upload one of your own.  And there are so many ways you can customize your pictures and make them your own!

While exploring the pictures on the website, I couldn’t decide what kind of picture I wanted.  After searching through all of the pictures, I finally came across one that I liked.  Something simple to add to my gallery wall.

And I came across this!  And I fell in love!Full Picture

Isn’t it pretty!  It’s very simple but gorgeous.  Though it is slightly hard to tell from the picture, the compass is actually a dark blue color, not black.  But either way, it looks great with all of the other pictures!

So, now I have added this and a few other pieces to my wall and it is slowly getting closer to being finished.  But…I still have a ways to go until I can finally say the wall is done.

Partial WallFull Wall

I think it is looking fabulous!  Just a few more arrows and words and it will be finished.  I never realized how much work actually went into putting a gallery wall together.  But I’m having a lot of fun doing it!

Now how would you guys like to get a free canvas from Canvas Factory???  I know, awesome isn’t it!  All you need to do is following the link below and there are a few options of things you can do to be entered into the raffle!  You have until September 20th at 11:59 pm to enter and I will be announcing the winner in my blog for next week.  So check it out and may the odds be ever in your favor!

Travel Theme Entryway

Good morning! I’m glad to be back this week! Last week was a little tough..we dropped Haley off at college! We had 2 car loads of her things to take. Thankfully, the school had big bins on wheels that we could load up and take to the rooms.  I’m not sure how many trips we would have had to take up and down stairs without that bin! Sure glad we didn’t have to find out!

I am so not ready for summer to end! I like fall too, but I just love the relaxed feeling of summer. I wish we had been able to do more traveling this summer, but instead I decorated my entryway with some California signs and other travel items. I pulled out a variety of things and then made a vignette on my door beverage table which I have placed in my entry. It’s the perfect thing to decorate for the seasons!

I cut out the CA from some maps I had, the same maps Lauren used for her Travel Sign. I used a little tape to attach them to the window. Lauren sent me the Seattle postcard when she went on her road trip.

I love these signs! I ordered them from Groupon a while back and love the vintage look they have. I placed them in some black frames I already had and hung them above my hat and California tote bag.

I cut the hole in the globe to make a hanging light, but so far I haven’t gotten around to it. Instead, I rolled up a USA map and placed it inside. When the girls were younger, I placed stars on the different states we had visited. After it’s done here in the entry,  I think I have finally found another spot for it.

A bucket and some starfish remind me of the beach. Some California gardening books and a nautical book are more hints to summer.

I found this big basket at a thrift store and love the colors! It’s the perfect thing to take a picnic in at the park or the beach. A giant conch shell and a Welcome sign invite everyone in.

Hopefully this brings back lots of good summer memories! I think this is the last of the summer decorating. Bring on autumn!!
