Our Holiday Fashion Show

Just a few more days till Christmas!! Aahhh! Are you ready! I think I am set. Just have to get the food for the parties, but I didn’t want to buy it too early. Now that the present shopping is done, the house is decorated, the cookies baked, it’s time to think about what you are going to wear to the get-together’s. What? You don’t know yet? Well, Lauren and I are here to help! We put together a few different outfits that will hopefully inspire you with pieces you already own.

First, we took the same black skirt and styled it two different ways. I wore it with a blue and black print flowy shirt, black tights and boots. I added this blue/black tweed jacket which I found for $7 at a local thrift store. Lauren is so jealous!

To style, take a basic black skirt, black tights and boots, and match it with a print top and cute jacket or coat. I chose blue and black because I wanted to use my ‘new’ jacket, but you could use any color combination.

Here is Lauren in the same black skirt.  Hello.  Lauren speaking.  I took this black skirt and added a cream lace top that I purchased from the coast.  I put a cream tank top under the top and a chain and rhinestone layered necklace.  To finish the look, I wore my black quilted boots that I absolutely adore!  This look is young and cute and I could wear this to every party that I go to.

My second look for Christmas is a little more casual. I paired white jeans, (yes, you can wear them after Labor Day :)), with a soft grey sweater. I like how this sweater has a drawstring to gather the top and also ribbing around the wrists and waist. I gives it a little dressier look. I added a pearl and silver long necklace and grey flats. By the way, this is where Chica starts photo-bombing all my pictures. LOL!

If it’s too cold for flats were you live, try skinny jeans and boots.

My second outfit is a blue dress that I bought from Forever 21 early last year.  I love how it looks and it is really comfortable.  I added some brown boots that I bought from a local store that look very similar to my black boots.  They are so comfortable!

Also, is it time to open presents yet?

This look is a red shirt-dress from Walmart. It is still available online and it’s only $10! Here is the link. It has tiny white polka-dots all over. I actually found this one in the store, but when I asked, the salesperson told me it was a return from an online order. I paired it with black footless tights and black flats. I think the red makes it more festive.

My third outfit also includes the color red!  I have a pair of red skinny jeans that I wear with just about anything that I can match them to.  I wore this with a cream shirt that has black lace on the sleeves that was originally Haley’s that I took when she didn’t want it anymore.    I wore it with my favorite black boots and a black and silver flower necklace.

Here are a couple more just so you can see Chica! This is simple too. Grey jeans and a white sparkly top. Again, you could use boots instead. I would use my grey boots, except they are wrapped up under the tree right now! A silver bracelet and earrings and you are set!

Fashion 2015 Pam Grey Jeans White Top

My final outfit is one that is full of comfort.  I have a pair of jeans that I purchased from Maurices and a grey shirt.  I added grey shoes and “borrowed” Haley’s grey backpack to complete the look.

And why I am laughing so hard you may ask?  Kiara, the cuddly cat if you remember from an earlier post, was standing on an end table and I was calling her.  Well, mom snapped the picture as I was calling her and the picture turned out funny and the picture that you see before you is the result of us laughing.  LOL!

My last one is a long grey sleeveless dress with a turquoise sweatshirt over the top. The dress is actually for summer, but with the dark color, it works for winter too. This is a bit more casual, but oh so comfy! Black boots and a big black bag finish the look. (Do you see the other photo bomber in the corner?)

Well, I hope this gives you some ideas for festive outfits for your holiday get-togethers! Maybe you will find a new favorite outfit! I hope you have a wonderful Christmas.

Corner News-November 27, 2015

Hello and welcome to another edition of the Corner News.  I hope that all of you had a great Thanksgiving and good time with family or friends.

So, because I like fashion and taking pictures of my family, I am going to share how my mom and I celebrated Thanksgiving.

First of all, I actually had the day off from work.  Hooray!  So, I was actually able to dress up and get ready to celebrate with my family.  I decided to start off the celebrations by posting a picture on Instagram.

And, here is the actual outfit!

The jeans are the same ones as the blue skinny jeans from my fall fashions blog last week.  The blue shirt is actually a men’s shirt that I purchased from a thrift store.  I also had some brown boots that were Haley’s that she was getting rid of, so I took them.

I also added a gold flower necklace that I bought from Forever 21.  I used it as my statement piece.  I then added small brown bead earrings as a little extra.

So enough about me, here are the centerpieces that my Aunt put together.  They were very cute!  And on each of the pumpkins were a small tag that told us who was sitting where.  This was a great idea!

And finally, we took a family picture because we hardly get the chance.

Thank you for stopping by.  I hope that you all had a great Thanksgiving!  And…now it’s on to Christmas!

Fun Fall Fashion

It’s almost the end of fall.  There aren’t as many colors in the world, it is getting much colder, and it is getting darker earlier (making us think that it is midnight when it’s actually 6 pm).  And in some places in the world, this wonderful white thing called snow is falling from the sky.  If you are from California, the only thing that could possibly be falling from the sky is rain.

But, one of my favorite things about fall/winter is the fashions.  I am a jackets and boots kind a girl.  I have a whole slew of coats and jackets and winter boots that I want to wear all the time.  So, because of my love for fashion, I decided to post a few pictures for you of some of my favorite fall outfits.

DISCLAIMER! My roommate Hannah took these pictures for me and so the complete look may not be seen because of the fact that the pictures didn’t turn out that great.  It wasn’t because I didn’t want to show off the beautiful double-breasted coat, it just because they didn’t turn out.  Apologies in advance.

Number 1: City Girl Country Wear

City Girl in Country Wear

This is the most comfortable outfit ever!

I absolutely love this outfit!  I will wear this every day if I possibly could (unfortunately, people might get a bit worried about me if I did).  But it is super cute and I love the look.

The flannel shirt is a mens shirt that I purchased from Wal-Mart 2 years ago.  I always roll up the sleeves to give it bit of a more feminine look.  But if it is cold enough, I will keep the sleeves down to keep my arms warm.  I paired this flannel with a white tank top and skinny jeans.  And finally the boots!  I love the girlishness of the boots.  There are sparkles, but it still looks like a classy boot.  I received these as a Christmas gift last year and I wish that I could get the other colors.

Here are some pieces of clothing that look like mine that you can add to your wardrobe!

Do I look like a royal yet?

I love how classy this outfit looks.  I could go out on the town in it or I could go shopping.  Okay, maybe without the heels, but you get the idea.

I bought the coat from Target 2 years ago on Sale for $60!  It was a steal!  Okay, maybe not so much, but you get the point.  It is a beautiful double-breasted coat that nice and warm.  I have paired it with skinny jeans (again) and some white and black lace heels.  These shoes were purchased from a thrift stores years and years ago, but they are comfortable and cute!

Number 3: Riding into the Fashion

DSCF5036

If this doesn’t make you want to go out and ride a horse, I don’t know what will.  It feels really country western, yet feels kind of like a dressage outfit.  I think it’s the jacket and boot combination is what makes it look that way.

My grandma gave me this jacket on a whim.  I remember Haley going into my grandma’s house to drop something off and comes outside holding the coat.  I rolled down my window, saying “if you’re asking me if I want that, the answer is yes”.  It has a little bit of an old fashion look with the addition of elbow patches.  I styled this with skinny jeans and multi-colored boots that I bought from GoodWill for $12!  What a steal!

Elbow Patches are Fun!

Number 4: New Age Nancy Drew

DSCF5048

Now, if you are like me and grew up reading Nancy Drew, there were times you wanted to dress like her.  The really posh, fashionable, yet still functioning teenage girl who was a detective.

So I bought this jacket from a thrift store (shocker of the year!) and it’s Macy’s brand jacket.  It isn’t that warm, but boy is it cute!  I paired this with a white lace shirt and nude sparkly flats from Target.  Do I look like I could go out and fight crime in this?

Pink JacketNude Flats

Number 5: Rock Star Ready

DSCF5059

This outfit is my favorite outfit to wear out.  I’ve worn it to company parties, fundraisers, and school.  I love the versatility of how it could be formal but still casual.

Let’s start with the jacket.  I received this leather jacket as a Christmas present.  It is Apartment 9 and it came from Kohls.  (PS: it is still available).  The shirt is a high low short sleeve with sheer on the bottom.  I bought it from Family Dollar for something like $10.  The jeans are actually juniors that I bought from JCPenny’s a few years ago.  They are Arizona and boy are they comfortable.  I have them in blue and red, but now they are available in pink…I might have to buy them.  And finally, the boots.  I bought them from a flea market for $12.  They are extremely comfortable and look good with anything I put them with.

So here are some of my favorite fall/winter outfits.  I hope that you enjoyed seeing some of my favorite outfits and some of my favorite pieces of clothing from my closet.  Do you have a favorite outfit that you just have to wear every fall/winter?

Before I leave you, the raffle for the Mediterranean lamp has closed.  I would like to congratulate Manda on winning this beautiful lamp!  Congratulations!
