Meowy Christmas!

IT’S ALMOST CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!  WHO’S EXCITED!!!!!!!!!

Not me…definitely not me…

Before we actually get to Christmas I wanted to show off some pictures of my Christmas kitties!  These first two I took myself.  And it will be quite obvious haha.

I love their “backdrop”. I added so many pink Christmas items that I had and they looked so cute with it.  Amelia (the calico) looks absolutely thrilled since I had to change the lighting like 5 times before I got that picture.  I think she was losing patience.  And Target (the tuxedo) was trying to get to the treats that I had in my hand.  She usually does things for treats (main word usually), so obviously she wanted them as I was shaking the bag to get her attention.

And I also took them to work to get pictures done as well.  If you don’t know, I work at a pet hotel in the local area where we can take our pets to work.  How cool is that?  We also get a small discount on all of our picture events which means I most definitely paid for their Christmas pictures.

They both look scared out of their mind!  I don’t take them to work that often, so that’s number 1.  Number 2, they normally just stay in their room no in the lobby where the pictures were taken.  And number 3, they just don’t like their pictures taken.  But I Love Them!  The pictures…my love for the cats is questionable sometimes.

I’m kidding I love my cats.

So that’s it!  I hope you enjoyed looking at my cats and laughing at their dismay in their photos.  I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and we will see you next week!

It’s a Pink Christmas!

Hello everyone!  I hope you have all had a good week so far and I hope you are ready for the weekend.

*This blog post contains sponsored content.*

If you haven’t been around the blog for too long, you may not know my obsession with pink.  At one point I had pink in my hair, I have pink decor, pink pillow, even a small pink Christmas tree in my car that is there year round.  But that’s not the only thing pink this year.

I HAVE MY VERY OWN CHRISTMAS TREE!!!!

This is the first year that I have a Christmas tree that’s full sized, not just a little itty bitty tree.  I have my own space where I can decorate for Christmas however I want.

So, I decorated my tree in pink, black, and white!  And here it is!

Full Tree

I absolutely love how my tree turned out!  I have so many ornaments that fit perfectly for my tree.  I purchased a lot from places like Walmart and Dollar Tree, but I had others from my parents house that I brought with me.

I also received some ornaments along with the garlands from Oriental Trading Company.  I should’ve bought 2 of the black garlands, but I didn’t, so I ended up cutting it into three pieces to cover more of the tree.  Also, I absolutely love the pink beaded garland!  How good does it look on the tree?

Feather and Ornament

And what about feathers?  Yep, those came from OrientalPink and grey ostrich feathers are perfect for sticking between the branches and adding some fluff to the tree!  Now if only the cats would stop going after them…

Ornaments

I also received some icicles, silver baubles, and white snowflakes to add more stuff to the tree.  Now, I thought that I had a lot of ornaments, but these helped me fill the tree even more.  They also made the tree the perfect tree!

Dark Tree

I am so happy with how my tree turned out.  I am in absolute love with it and it fits my personality perfectly.  Now if only I can get my cats to stop messing with the gifts under the tree…

A Spring Tablescape Contest

It’s Spring Break this week! Yay! I was actually out of work 2 days last week too, because I didn’t feel well, but went back on Friday for our Jesus Lives party. The kids really enjoy that. We do some crafts, listen to the Bible story, dye eggs, decorate cookies and go on an egg hunt. It’s a fun filled morning, and now I am ready for the break.

This weekend I was putting some tablescapes together for a blog post, when Haley decided we should do a competition. We used to put together a place-setting complete with menu for 4-H competitions. She stated we should do it for the blog. We won’t tell you whose is whose and you can vote in the comments. The winner gets bragging rights, and if Haley wins, we will never hear the end of it! We collected all these things from around the house and had a great time teasing each other about who would win. So here we go!

  1. Retro Turquoise Chic

This tablescape starts out with a white tablecloth and is layered with a turquoise, grey and white patterned napkin. A white plate is layered with a grey plate and a white napkin and silverware are laid by the side. The wood and white cake stand is topped with turquoise mason jars and a topiary to bring in some texture and coziness. A retro turquoise fan will keep you cool on those hot summer nights. Perfect simplicity for a summer dinner under the stars.

2. Summer Chic

This is the perfect tablescape to add a little glam to your table! A navy blue tablecloth is layered with a bright pink runner. A stack of plates combines white and gold, both solid pieces and ones with designs. Silverware is packaged into a crisp white napkin. Simple details, such as a white bunny with gold ears, white and pink peony and a green fern add to the chic. Add a few candles for the perfect dinner with someone special.

3. Seaside Charm

This tablescape features a white tablecloth with a burlap runner. A white and turquoise chippy metal charger is layered with a grey rattan plate holder and a turquoise plate with white trim. A grey swirled napkin is topped with a starfish.  Flatware tied with rope adds to the coastal look. A twine wrapped candle inside a rope and glass candleholder adds some ambiance and charm. Glass floats and a little burlap treat bag bring in some character and texture. Great for imagining yourself at the sea.

Pink Floral Valentine Heart

Good Saturday morning! Ahh! Is a day to relax for you or are you busy running around? We have a few household things to take care of , but not too much on the agenda. Of course, there’s the Super Bowl tomorrow. Are you watching or is shopping calling your name? We will just be hanging out at home watching the commercials, while my husband watched the actual game. 🙂

Lauren and I kind of came up with the same type of Valentine project and we hadn’t even talked about it ahead of time. A little scary! We both used silk flowers and mounted them, hers is on a canvas and mine is on a weathered board. You can see hers here. Anyways, I had a bunch of small boards that Lauren had painted awhile ago, plus some silk flowers in my stash and decided to try and put them together.

I pulled out the flowers I wanted to use, I chose pink,  and then decided on a grey board so the flowers would really stand out. I drew a heart on a piece of paper and then traced it onto the board so I would have a little bit of an outline to put my flowers in.

I did try this a couple of different ways, but ended up using just one type and color of flower. I was so busy gluing and placing flowers, I forgot to take any pictures during. Sorry! But it is pretty simple. I glued them really close together so they would be nice and tight. I even trimmed some of the petals to give it more of a heart shape. I think maybe smaller flowers with tighter petals would have worked better, but I still think this looks good.

I used a decorative stand to display it on and placed it my shelves in my dining room with my other pink decor.

This was really simple, but I think it looks nice and adds just a little special touch to the shelf.

I hope you have a wonderful Saturday!

Silk Flower Heart Canvas

Hello everyone!  February is now upon us and Valentines Day is a little over a week away.  But, that doesn’t mean that all of the Valentines Decor is complete.  Hence this project.

But, before we get started, congratulations to Sarah C. on winning the Canvas Factory Raffle!  We can’t wait to see what you have picked out!

I have been trying to find different projects for BlitzyBlingArt.  And, I went to the 99 Cent Store and found these really pretty silk flowers.  So, naturally I bought a few bunches and started my project.

pink-fake-flowers

The first thing I did was take all of the flowers off of their stems and cut them short so I could glue them.  Next, I cut out a heart and drew it on the canvas.

heart-on-canvas

Then I started gluing.  First problem I ran into, I attempted to use Elmer’s glue.  Obviously I realized that wasn’t going to work AFTER I attempted to glue the first flower on.  Second problem, I wasn’t going to fill in the heart.  But then I realized that that as I started to put flowers around the heart, you couldn’t see the shape of the heart.

first-row-pink

I decided to use the pink flowers around the heart and the white inside the heart.  That way the heart is a bit more obvious and you could see it.

floral-half-canvas

And after lots of hot glue and a few flowers falling apart with cutting the stems off, the canvas was finished.  And it looks amazing!

The heart still isn’t very heartish (if that is even a word), but it looks really cool!  I love how it looks.  The flowers look really nice and it looks full.  I also like how it look next to my other Valentines Decor!
