Pumpkin and Magnolia Leaves Tablescape

orange and turquoise thanksgiving tablescape titleGood morning! Well, it’s November! That means in blog land, it’s time to get out the Christmas decorations! I haven’t quite got there yet, so I thought I would share my Thanksgiving table from last year. Enjoy!

I bought this great big fat pumpkin when I went to the pumpkin patch with my class and it has been waiting to be the star of the table! I love it!

I was able to cut a few small branches of magnolia leaves from my neighbors tree (shhh) to use on the table too. I added in a few pussy-willow branches and some golden acorns.

The candlelight glowing on the white hydrangeas and leaves look so pretty.

Adding in lots of textures gives the table a cozy and homey feel. Rattan place-mats and burlap pumpkins combined with the leaves and flowers add just the right touch.

I added just a little bit of orange and turquoise too.

I hope you all get to gather around the table with special people in your lives this Thanksgiving. All the decor and food mean nothing if we can’t share it with the people we love!

I’m so glad you stopped in today. Thank you so much for following along! The next time I am here, it will be with Christmas ideas! I can’t wait to share it with you all!

A Spring Tablescape Contest

It’s Spring Break this week! Yay! I was actually out of work 2 days last week too, because I didn’t feel well, but went back on Friday for our Jesus Lives party. The kids really enjoy that. We do some crafts, listen to the Bible story, dye eggs, decorate cookies and go on an egg hunt. It’s a fun filled morning, and now I am ready for the break.

This weekend I was putting some tablescapes together for a blog post, when Haley decided we should do a competition. We used to put together a place-setting complete with menu for 4-H competitions. She stated we should do it for the blog. We won’t tell you whose is whose and you can vote in the comments. The winner gets bragging rights, and if Haley wins, we will never hear the end of it! We collected all these things from around the house and had a great time teasing each other about who would win. So here we go!

  1. Retro Turquoise Chic

This tablescape starts out with a white tablecloth and is layered with a turquoise, grey and white patterned napkin. A white plate is layered with a grey plate and a white napkin and silverware are laid by the side. The wood and white cake stand is topped with turquoise mason jars and a topiary to bring in some texture and coziness. A retro turquoise fan will keep you cool on those hot summer nights. Perfect simplicity for a summer dinner under the stars.

2. Summer Chic

This is the perfect tablescape to add a little glam to your table! A navy blue tablecloth is layered with a bright pink runner. A stack of plates combines white and gold, both solid pieces and ones with designs. Silverware is packaged into a crisp white napkin. Simple details, such as a white bunny with gold ears, white and pink peony and a green fern add to the chic. Add a few candles for the perfect dinner with someone special.

3. Seaside Charm

This tablescape features a white tablecloth with a burlap runner. A white and turquoise chippy metal charger is layered with a grey rattan plate holder and a turquoise plate with white trim. A grey swirled napkin is topped with a starfish.  Flatware tied with rope adds to the coastal look. A twine wrapped candle inside a rope and glass candleholder adds some ambiance and charm. Glass floats and a little burlap treat bag bring in some character and texture. Great for imagining yourself at the sea.

So, which one did you like the best? Let us know in the comments and I will let you know next week who the winner is! This was a lot of fun for us and we hope you enjoyed it too! Have a great week and a blessed Easter!

My Springtime Tablescape

Spring fever is running high here! The weather is beautiful and it is so nice to have it be light later into the evening. I love to spend time outside, but it is still pretty cool in the evenings. So instead, I decorated the dining room table (actually the only table I have).

Spring Time Dining Room

My Dining Room

I received this table from my grandparents. They bought it when they first got married in 1928. Unfortunately the top is pretty scratched up and scarred from when the girls were little. I am still trying to decide if I want to refinish it or paint it.  The original chairs have been put into storage. They were getting a bit creaky from too much use, so I hope one day to release them and bring them back into my home.

Springtime Table

I covered the table with a white tablecloth and then added green/turquoise napkins. I draped them over the side of the table and really like how it looks. I added my white plates, another napkin and a small speckled egg to each place-setting.

I really liked how this turned out!

Spring Egg

Love these speckled eggs!

Someone is watching!!

I used a galvanized tray with rope handles in the center of the the table. I love using trays, because they contain everything, plus they can easily be moved if needed.

The centerpiece

Haley says I usually add to much stuff to my displays, so I tried to keep it really simple. I added white tulips (faux, because I couldn’t find the real thing!), eggs and a nest, a white bird in a cloche and my signature starfish.

I hope you enjoyed this mini tour as much as I enjoyed putting it together! Do you decorate your table for the seasons too? I would love to hear what you do to decorate for spring! Sunshine and Blessings
