It’s A Valentine’s Tablescape

Hello!  I hope you are all ready because this blog post is going to be a fun one!  So hold onto your hats and hold on until the end!  I promise you won’t be disappointed.

So it’s becoming that time again for all of the love.  You know what I’m talking about.  Hearts in red and pink all over the stores shelves.  And not only in the stores, but also online as well.  And Oriental Trading is all about the holidays.

And after much deliberation on what to pick from their website, I finally decided on doing a tablescape.  So after doing a lot of shopping around and putting things in my cart and taking them out, I finally ordered my things and started my tablescape.

Valentine's Day Tablescape Full

And here it is!  I love how it turned out and love each piece that I picked out.  So lets see what I picked.

Valentine's Day Tablescape Center

The first thing is this cute candy jar.  It has a small chalkboard on the front so you can write what kind of candy is in it.  Or, you can draw a heart on it like I did.  But it fits quite a bit of candy in it, so go bananas!

Valentine's Day Tablescape Across

The next thing is the heart tree, if that’s what you want to call it.  It’s a tree in a small pot that you can bend and shape however you want to.  It’s only about 18 inches tall, so it won’t block your view of your loved one.

There’s also the rose garland in the middle of the table.  I added the pink puffball garland and the white puffball garland as well, just to add some stuff to the middle.

Valentine's Day Tablescape Diamonds

And these jewels?  Yep, bought them from Oriental.  I bought a pink, black, and clear pack so I had a variety to spread around the table.  Each color came in a pack of 25 diamonds, so you get a lot of bang for your buck.

Valentine's Day Tablescape Plates

The plates were also purchased from Oriental.  And the silver place mats!  Okay, the place mats were from mom from the last time we worked with Oriental, but they looked great with the rest of the tablescape.  I bought the small candy baking cups from the 99 Cent Store, but they looked so good with the plates.

Valentine's Day Tablescape Overtop

So this is what the table looks like from above!  It’s so cute!

Valentine's Day Tablescape Love

The last thing I got from Oriental was this pretty gold LOVE sign.  It sat so nicely on the cake plate in the background of the photos.  And I must say that I am very excited to put this on my gallery wall in my apartment.

Side note: out cat Kiara is extremely nosy and wants to be in the middle of EVERYTHING.

Valentine's Day Tablescape Kiara

And finally, we found some cute pet clothes for Valentine’s Day at the 99 Cent Store which we had to buy.  Repeat HAD TO.  So we had a little doggy (and kitty) photoshoot for the holiday!

Obviously, Kiara looks annoyed that I took her photo, but I love her all the better!  And Ezzy is on a different couch because she is our senior citizen and I didn’t want to move her.

So that was my fun with Oriental.  I love how the table turned out, but I love the animals as well.  Have a good Wednesday!

DIY Wooden American Flag

wooden flag sticker stars and book page stripes title

I created a little flag from some of the scrap pieces of wood I have laying around. This one was already painted red, so I figured that would work well for the stripes. Now, I made two mistakes on this craft. 1. I forgot to take pictures of all the parts of the process. It’s not too difficult, so I’m sure you will be able to figure it out. 2. I forgot to paint the star part of the flag white before I painted it blue. But I did come up with a solution.

Like I said, my wood was already red, so I taped off the part for the stars. If I had been thinking, I should have painted this square white before putting the stickers on, but, alas, I didn’t.

I found these stickers at Dollar Tree and stuck on 50 of them. That’s when I  realized I should have painted it white, but I really didn’t want to have to redo the stars again. So I just spray painted navy blue over everything.

Once it was dry, I peeled the star stickers off the board. I have a white Sharpie paint pen, so I colored in each of the stars. It really didn’t take too long since the stars are small.

I didn’t get the pictures of the white stripes, but they are book pages with torn edges. I wanted 6 white stripes, 3 short ones and 3 long ones. For the long ones, I had to put 2 pieces together. I used Tacky Glue to attach them.

Really pretty easy! I know you got this!

Dollar Tree Patriotic Basket for Your Front Door

Good morning! How are you doing today? Have stores and other places started opening up in your area? We were able to travel out of town this weekend! This was the first time since the beginning of March, so we were more than ready to get out of town!

*We are affiliated with Dollar Tree and may receive compensation if you click on the link above at no extra cost to you!*

The basket had a couple of wooden pieces glued on. Not quite the look I was going for. 🙂 I tried to come up with a way to remove them.

So I thought I would try a blow dryer first. It did work, but it didn’t get the glue all the way off. I removed the wood pieces but ended up using the other side of the basket for the front of the basket when I hung it up.

I added some green foam into the basket to secure the flowers. I just cut it with an old knife until it fit.

Next, I cut all the flowers off the big stem until I had individual flowers. I pushed up the leaves too so they were closer to the flower.

I pushed the flower stems in the green foam at different heights and making sure that the same colors weren’t together. I even added a little pinwheel!

I wanted to add one of the wooden stars to the front of the basket so I chose the ‘God Bless America’ star. I feel like our country needs lots of blessings right now. I thought it still seemed a little plain, so I added a piece of red and white polka-dot ribbon around the top of the basket. I also added a piece of ribbon for hanging the basket. I used hot glue to attach both the ribbon and the star.

And then it was ready to hang!

It’s a little touch of the red, white and blue!

This is a quick and easy craft, but looks great and shows you are ready to celebrate our freedom and our country.

Thank you so much for coming by today! I appreciate each and every one of you! Have a happy 4th of July!

Here are a few more patriotic posts you may enjoy!

Three Cheers for the Red, White & Blue!

Let the celebration begin!! Are you all stocked up and ready for the 4th of July? I set up a table with some fun kids stuff (big kids too!) that I received from Oriental Trading.  Have you checked them out? The Oriental Trading Company  is a direct merchant of value-priced party supplies, arts and crafts, toys and novelties and school supplies. It’s a great place to order all you party needs and, should I say, school supplies. Nope, it’s too early for that!

I love decorating this picket table my husband and I made. It’s the perfect spot for a snack or beverage table. I decided to mix a little Americana and Nautical together.

I thought these Mini Stars and Stripes Bubble Bottles looked like fun! It helps keep the kids entertained until the fireworks start. The Rustic 4th Napkins look great with all the other accessories. Do you notice the Cotton Plant Garland? I know it might seem a little out of place for 4th of July, but the valley I live in grows a lot of the U.S.’s fruits and vegetables, and cotton. So this is just a little nod to my community!

I placed the bubbles on one of the trays. By turning it upside down, it makes a great spot and makes them easier to see.

I love these Patriotic Yard Bursts! I placed them inside a couple of bottles I got from Hobby Lobby. They make quite the statement!

The Nautical Fabric Pennant Banner is my favorite. It looks like it belongs on a sailboat somewhere. I like the solids and stripes and it’s even on twine! It goes well with my Wooden American Flag. I will be posting the DIY for the flag next week.

The Patriotic Food Trays are the perfect size for a bunch of cookies, or chips or any other snack. I added these cute little Shining Sea Pinwheels too. They would look really nice in a plate of cupcakes.

Flag Tootsie Rolls anyone? I probably shouldn’t have ordered these. I will probably eat them all myself! The little cups are the perfect size to hold your goodies in ( I ordered the cups from Oriental Trading too, but I don’t see that they are available anymore).

I’m all ready! Now it’s just waiting for the celebration! Happy 4th!

In my apartment, I share my porch with someone else.  Now, they have some cute Christmas decor up but I don’t because I don’t have a big area to decorate.  But, I love looking at Christmas porches and getting ideas for when I get my own place.  So here are some of my favorites for you to ooooo and ahh over!  Enjoy!
