Adding Some Dazzle to an Old Pair of Shoes

Hello everyone!  Is it fall yet?  Because out here in California it is still 90 degrees almost all week and I could really use a rainy cold day.  Wouldn’t that be nice?????

Well, this weeks blog was an experiment for a present for a friend of mine.  I wanted to try this on something that I had before I put I worked on something and I didn’t like how it turned out.

So, I want to bedazzle a pair of shoes for my friend, but wanted to bedazzle a pair of my own shoes to see if I liked it or not.  My supplies included a pair of shoes that I drew on, Jolee’s Boutique scrapbook embellishments, and fabric glue.

Now, I already had the design drawn on the shoes, so I didn’t have to worry about messing up.  But, I definitely suggest drawing on the shoes before doing anything else.  It makes your job 100 times easier.

And then I didn’t know what would be easier to put the black gems on.  If I put the glue on each gem individually, or if I smeared the glue on the shoe and then stuck the gems on.  So, here’s my verdict.  Putting glue on each gem individually makes the line nicer, but smearing the glue on the shoe is much faster.

So it’s up to you what you what you want to do!  The picture on the left is glue on each gem and the picture on the right is the glue smeared on.  Don’t worry, the glue dries on clear.

And after you spend however long sticking your gems on the shoes, you will have a completed look!  Whatever you decide to put on your shoes, or whatever you decide to bedazzle, it will look awesome!

I love how the turned out!  Obviously, the glue hadn’t completely dried in the picture, but it did dry completely clear and they look awesome!  I am happy with how it looks and cannot wait to compete the project for my friends present!

Fabulous Finds and Fashion-Blue and White

This next weekend is a long weekend for America with Fourth of July on Monday!! So glad we can take a day to celebrate our country and it’s birthday!

I decided to to blue and white and a little red in honor of 4th of July! Haley found this shirt for me at Ross and I figured it was the perfect way to start. First I paired it with navy blue shorts and some simple silver sandals. (sorry the shorts are a little wrinkly. I’m going for the very casual look! :))

Here is a close-up of the design down the front of the shirt. So pretty!

Here I paired it with the classic denim. This could be pants, shorts or a skirt. The same silver sandals and some white earrings finish it off.

Here is to the red, white and blue! How about red jeans with the shirt. I love how this looks! Perfect for the holiday! I’m sure it will be too hot that day to actually wear this, but maybe I can find some red shorts instead. Some blue sandals and silver earrings complete the outfit.

Thanks for coming by today! If you are here in America, be sure to have a safe and wonderful holiday!

Wooden Americana Signs

Board After 2

Good morning everyone!  Are you all getting ready for Memorial Day on Monday?  Are you deciding how to decorate your backyard and what food you are going to barbecue for your guests?  Or maybe you aren’t having your own party, but you are attending someone else’s party.  Whatever you are doing, I hope you have a great holiday!

But, for today, I have a great idea for you to decorate at your party!

I love making wooden signs for different reasons.  And, of course, I had some extra small boards in storage that I had no use for.  So, I pulled them out of storage, dusted them off, and started painting them.

Board Before

I knew I wanted to do Memorial Day themed boards, so I used red, white, and blue paint from Rustoleum that I bought at Orchard Supply Hardware.  I used Colonial Red, Navy Blue, and White.

Board Paint

And here is how the boards look after the paint job.

Board Painted

I knew that I wanted them to be even more patriotic than the paint job.  I wanted to put the lyrics from Lee Greenwoods “Proud to be an American” on the red board, a star on the blue board, and USA on the white board.  So I printed out the designs that I wanted using fonts from Microsoft Word and a star that I found on Google.

Board Designs

I rubbed pencil on the back of the papers and then sketched the designs onto the boards.  The hardest one was the red board because the pencil marks were very light and were very hard to see on the dark paint.  But…I managed.  I then used a red sharpie for the USA board and white paint for the other two.

And here is how they turned out.

I really like how they look.  They are perfect for Memorial Day and 4th of July, but they could look really nice with any red, white, and blue decor.  They were extremely easy to make were a lot of fun to do.  It was also fun to find the different fonts to use on the boards and make everything look nice.

Thank you guys for stopping by.  See some of my other board projects by clicking on the pictures below!

The Color Red-Fabulous Finds and Fashions

I decided to do something a little different this week with my fashions. I pulled items out of my closet, I chose red, and decided to lay them out with all the accessories and take pictures of them. When I told Lauren about it, she told me, “Guess what? I did the same thing!” We hadn’t even talked about it before! I guess great minds DO think alike!! LOL!

I decided to go with red this time. I don’t have a lot of bright colors, but I was able to put a couple of things together. Most of these are great finds too!

This red dress came from Forever 21 in the clearance section two summers ago. I like the fit and flair style. I originally wore it for Christmas, but it works great other times too. I added a necklace and earrings and a wallet that Lauren was getting rid of and some strappy sandals from Goodwill, NWT from Target. A little dressy, but still casual for summer.

Most of this outfit is also from Goodwill. The red pants are from the Kardashian Kollection, but found at Goodwill, as was the top and the tote. The sandals were from a yard sale and I really don’t remember where the necklace came from. And always bring your puppy as an accessory!!

I love this striped skirt and have worn it with many different things throughout the years. I layered a red tank top under the lace top to get the pop of red without overdoing it. I bought the purse last year from Ross before going to Disneyland. I have had the copper flip-flops for so long I can’t even tell you where I got them! The owl necklace was from the 99 Cent Store. There are silver hoops there too, by the shoes, but you can hardly see them on the rug.

It helps me to use what I already own and not keep buying so many pieces I have nothing to go with! I hope to do a few more of these in other colors too.  Do you enjoy putting outfits together too? Doing it ahead of time takes away the excuse,”I have nothing to wear!”

Fabulous Finds and Fashions

Hello! I have a few things to share with you today. I little bit of finds and a little bit of fashion!

I am not sure where this deer came from, but he is so cute! I knew I wanted to use it for a jewelry dish. I was at a thrift store last week and didn’t see any plates I thought would work, but then I saw one of the employees start to empty a cart full of dishes. I wandered around the store a little more and then came back and there was the perfect plate! White with little gold dots. I brought it home and then spray painted the deer gold and glued it on.

These next two outfits were designed around the shoes. My daughter bought these for me a couple of years ago for my birthday. Of course, I had told her to go get them!! Anyways, they are a little more difficult to wear because of the stripes, but I think I found a couple of cute ways to wear them.

First I went a little more nautical or patriotic. A white t-shirt, red pants, denim jacket and a white and red anchor scarf. I even have a red and white striped purse a picked up from a yard sale several years ago.

The other outfit is a little more neutral and traditional. Khaki slacks, navy blue lace top and a navy and pink scarf. I picked up this scarf at Disneyland this past summer and haven’t had a chance to wear it yet. I love it! I love this outfit with the little bit of bright pink.

There we go! Two new outfits for me to wear! I love putting different things together with the items I already own. I will see if I can come up with more for the next time!
