Fabulous Vintage Beverage Cart Makeover

Good Monday morning to you all! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! We had a great time at the beach. The weather was wonderful and we could sit out on the beach and just relax. The only thing missing was Lauren :(. Unfortunately she had to work and we had made the reservations long ago. We will definitely plan better next time!

I bought this vintage beverage cart a few weeks ago at a yard sale. I paid $10 for it which I thought was a great price. Each shelf even comes off to use as a tray.

But it was going to need some sprucing up! I decided to keep the gold on the bars, but would paint the trays to match the rest of my patio furniture.

First I taped off all the parts I didn’t want gold, like the wheels and the bar across the middle of the top tray.

The gold paint I had on hand is ancient, but I decided to give it a try, rather than buy more. It still worked just fine!

Next I painted the trays (sorry no pics! I was too anxious to get it done!). I used Rustoleum Spray Paint in Lagoon. I also had it on hand from Haley’s bench project.

Here is the finished product! I love how this turned out!

A little bit retro, a little bit modern, in my favorite colors and practical too!

Haley picked out some of her favorite snacks to add to the tray.

I think they are Ezzy’s favorite too!

Friday’s Corner News-August 14, 2015

Happy Friday everyone! Hope everyone had a great week ! We are getting away this weekend for one last camping trip before all the school activities take over.

I have been busy with painting projects around the house. This summer I have painted the hallway, Haley’s room, and the living/dining room. I still have a couple of larger projects to do in these rooms, but then hopefully I can reveal them. Here is the color of the shelves for the living room.

Remember I had these pieces of chalkboard from my preschool?  I used one in my bathroom, and now I painted the other to use in my classroom. I made it a Quote Board. Have you heard the funny things 4 year old say?!

I did a little redecorating on my back patio. I added a few late summer flowers and decorations.

I also have these wonderful paw-prints that I did with my pets. They actually did pretty well with having their paw put in ink and on the paper. Well I have been wanting to frame them with a picture of each dog. I finally found 4 frames that were all the same at the thrift store, and they were half off! Perfect! I will show you the finished product when I am done with all of them.pawprint collage

Have a wonderful weekend and see you next week!

Bound for Disney

Attention!  What I am about to present to you may change the way that you visit Disneyland forever!  Be prepared (yes, that is a Lion King reference).

Before my family took our trip to Disneyland, my mom introduced me to a concept called Disneybound.  Trust me, if you look up Disneybound on Pinterest, you will find hundreds of ideas.  But before you go and look at Pinterest, finish reading this blog post so you know what you are getting yourself into.

Disneybound is the basically where Disney and fashion collide.  It is where you can dress in your own clothes to look like a Disney character.  You can dress as whoever you would like and dress how you would like.

So…let me give you an idea of what we did on our trip to Disneyland!

So, this is what we wore when we went to California Adventures.  Haley was Hades from Hunchback of Notre Dame, Mom and Dad were Sally and Lightning McQueen from Cars, and I was Kuzco from The Emperor’s New Groove.  So I will use my outfit as an example and show you what Disneybound is about.

kuzco

Here is Emperor Kuzco from The Emperor’s New Groove.  Notice that he is wearing a red “dress”, black sandals, blue earrings, and a gold crown.  Now go back to my picture and look at what I am wearing.  A red jacket, black sandals, blue earrings, and a gold headband.  I also threw in a gold llama necklace since Kuzco turns into a llama in the movie.  I also put my hair in a fan bun so that it looked more like his crown in the movie.

See? Simple as that!

Now here are our Disneyland pictures.

So in Disneyland, mom was Lady from Lady and the Tramp, dad was Chewbacca from Star Wars, Haley was Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean, and I was Snow White.  So, we still had a lot of fun when we were dressed up!  A cast member even “recognized” me as Snow White.

So how easy it is to Disneybound?  Anyone can do it!  All you need is a character who you like and you think would be fun to be.  We picked characters who we like from the movies and who we thought would be easy.

Here are some other characters that I dressed up as for the sake of the blog.

Jessie from Toy Story 2

And Aurora from Sleeping Beauty.  PS, I wore heels just for the picture.  I don’t recommend going to Disneyland in heels.

disneyboundursula

This is my take on Ursula, from Little Mermaid.

We had a lot of fun trying out different outfits. If we had pieces we needed, we went shopping at thrift stores for them. Have you heard of Disneybound or have you tried it? I would love to hear about your experience!

Recycled Pallet Table

Today we are back with our regularly scheduled program! Back to the DIY and recycled projects! Today is a pretty simple one…and it’s made from pallet wood! We have a whole pile of it and finally came up with a project.

It started out with the base of the desk my daughter took apart for her bench project.

We still had the metal base left over. I wanted to use it for something, so I finally decided to try a table, even though it’s a little tall. I tried a piece of chalkboard first, thinking I would paint it black and then could write different things on it for get-togethers. But I didn’t really care for it, so I laid a couple of pallet boards across just to see how it would look. The vote was unanimous! We all went for the pallet wood!

My husband added a couple pieces of wood underneath, just to give some support, and that was about it. All the pieces were screwed together and I have a ‘new’ table! I love it!

Ezzy is making sure it all looks perfect and maybe enjoy a tiny bite of the peach cheesecake!

Thanks for all you wonderful comments about our nomination for the Liebster Award! It’s been fun getting to know some other new bloggers out there! Hope you all have a wonderful week!
