Guest Room Complete & Canvas Giveaway

Good morning! Hope you all had a good weekend! We had lots and lots of rain, which we do need so badly. Thankfully, it stops for awhile in between storms so the water has time to drain. And guess what!? It’s our 2 Year Blogiversary!!! I can hardly believe it! Thank you to all our wonderful followers and supporters! Obviously we couldn’t keep going if it wasn’t for all of you! You are so appreciated and we really have enjoyed getting to know you and reading all your sweet comments.

Since I couldn’t get out much, I was able to get a little more done in my house. I mostly worked on the guest room/craft room/Lauren’s room. It’s basically the same as it was at the other house, but this room is much larger. So nice! I actually have room to stretch out a bit!

*The contents of this blog are sponsored by CanvasFactory.com.*

Before we moved to our new house, I was contacted by CanvasFactory.com. They offered to send me a 16 X 20 canvas of my choice. I could either upload my own picture to be placed on a canvas or use one of their 20 million wall art prints. There are so many sizes and styles to choose from! There are canvas, acrylic glass, aluminum or collages. You can order a single print, like I did, a split canvas, or a do a whole canvas display. Plus, CanvasFactory is giving away a 16 X 20 canvas of your choice! Just enter the Rafflecopter at the end of the post. Good luck!

It took me awhile to go through the different prints they offered, but I finally decided on an old-fashioned bicycle. Even then, I had to choose between what color bicycle and what style. I finally chose black and white.

The quality of this canvas is so great! The background is very white, so the black bicycle really stands out. There is even a bit of a sparkle to it!

Here you can see some of the great detail.

Even the back is finished nicely. There is black velvet all around the back edge to protect your walls and a sturdy hanger too.

I would love to have a few more of these around! They really look nice and add a great element to your room.  Continue reading to find out how you can win a canvas of your own from Canvas Factory!

Okay, on to the guest room! Obviously, I hung this CanvasFactory.com print in the guest room, so now I will show you the rest of it. It started out as quite a mess! I really hadn’t done anything to it since we had the painting (Benjamin Moore, Simply White)done. So I unloaded everything from the desk and put it onto the bed.

Then I started with my ribbon basket. I took everything out and gave it a good dusting. I did get rid of a few rolls and then secured all my other rolls with straight pins so I wouldn’t have pieces of ribbon hanging all over.

Much better!

What a difference a good cleaning can make!

I used the same bedding and curtains I had before.

I did change up the dresser a bit though. I used a lot of the same things, just rearranged them a bit.

I really like how fresh and clean the room is now. It feels ready to take on a new craft project! Slowly, but surely, the house is coming together. We have several big projects to tackle, and several little ones, but it’s nice to see some progress.

I have added some links to some items similar to what I have in my guest room if you are interested. I earn a little bit from each sale, but there is no extra charge for you. Thanks for taking a look!

Finds and Fashions-January 17, 2017

Hello again! It’s time for another Finds and Fashions…except I don’t have any (sigh). I really haven’t been out shopping or buying much lately, unless you count paint and primer, but that’s not too exciting.

I did take the doors off the coat closet that is right in front of the front door. It’s so close, you practically run into it. I want to remove the insides and the wall in the front, just to give a little more room. There is another coat closet in the hallway, so we really don’t need this one. (really bad picture…sorry!)

After I took the doors off, I realized I could put them together and form a kind of screen in front of the water heater. The water heater sits right inside the door into the laundry room and you can see it from the family room. This at least disguises it a bit. I want to do something pretty with it in the future.

We also brought this big window from the old house and are in the process of installing it between the dining room and kitchen. Can you guess what it is going to be when it is finished?  You also get a sneak peek into the dining room! This is the only room that is even a little bit decorated.

That’s going to be it for today! I hope you have a wonderful day and hopefully I can show you a little more progress on Monday!

Finds and Fashions

Good morning! How is your first week of 2017 going? We are busy working on projects in our home.We have a huge mess right now. Steve removed the popcorn ceiling before we moved in, but now we had the ceiling textured and next come the paint. We have been living inside a plastic wrapped house for the last couple of day. I will be very happy when this part is done and I can actually put the house together!

The post today isn’t really Finds and Fashions. I received these from my mom, but I thought they were pretty neat.

My Grandma made this quilt for one of my uncles. Each white square has one of the 50 states’ flower embroidered onto it. There was a lot of work put into this. I have done a lot of embroidery and cross-stitch, but I have never done a quilt. They always impress me.

The second item is this trunk. Hopefully I get the story right. Mom, let me know if I miss anything! My Grandma (same one as above), was born in 1903 in Colorado. Her parents decided to move and traveled in a wagon towards California. According to a great-aunt, this trunk was one of the items to travel in the wagon. They stayed in two other places, where 2 more daughters were born, before finally ending up in Lemoore, Ca.

My great-aunt had some items inside the trunk that were going to be used to repair it, but it was never done.

I think it is pretty cool just like it is! It looks like a pirate chest to me! I love having these family heirlooms in my home, especially when they have a cool story to tell!

Hope you have a great day!

Drawstring Dishtowel Christmas Gift Bag

Good news!! We closed on our house! Finally! We closed late Friday and have been working on painting and other projects all weekend. We will try to finish a few more things this week and will be moving our stuff in next weekend. I can hardly believe it! I’m excited about the projects I want to do, but it will take awhile to get them all done. But a home is never finished, right? I’m sure there will always be things to do.

So, I won’t be having any Christmas decor for you, but I do have a few crafts. These are all pretty simple and don’t take a whole lot of work, but they look great and add just the right holiday touches.  These bags turned out so cute! I can’t wait to use them next year for my Christmas decorations!

drawstring-dishtowel-gift-bag-towels-title

I found my dishtowels at Hobby Lobby. I bought 2 of the same design, but you could use coordinating ones too.

drawstring-dishtowel-gift-bag-towels

I pinned the right sides together and sewed up the 2 long sides and one short side, leaving the top open.

drawstring-dishtowel-gift-bag-sewing-machine

Keeping the bag inside out, I folded over the top edges and sewed it, making a pocket for the ribbon to run through. Leave a little open at one end to run the ribbon through.

drawstring-dishtowel-gift-bag-top

I used a safety pin at the end of the ribbon to make it easier to thread through the opening. I pushed it through by holding the pin through the fabric, gathering fabric and then pulling the excess back towards the beginning.

Once your ribbon is through, you can fill up the bag with gifts and other goodies, gather the top of the bag and tie it in a pretty bow!

I love how the sun sparkled in this picture!

All filled up and ready to go!

How about a little bit of gold?

I really like how cute these look. I think they will look great under the tree. They will add a little farmhouse to your Christmas!

I hope you all have a wonderful week! I’m not sure how much I will be around, but I will try to pop in to say Hello!

Glittering Silver Sequin Ornament

Happy Monday before Thanksgiving! It hardly seems possible that it is already here. We will have a Thanksgiving ‘Feast’ at the preschool on Wednesday and then be off for the rest of the weekend. The kids are already all wound up for the holiday, so it will be nice to have a few days to relax. And, no move yet :(. We were really hoping to have the house and start doing a little bit of work on it, but it doesn’t look like it is going to happen.

I do have another ornament for you today. I know a lot of people already have their tree up and ready! So here is sparkly ornament to add to it!

Sequin Christmas Ornament Title

Your supplies are very minimal for this ornament. A styrofoam ball- as small or big as you want, some sequins-any colors, and some sequin pins. I found mine at Hobby Lobby. Then just start pinning! I chose silver and a little bit of turquoise.

Sequin Christmas Ornament Supplies

Lauren decided to use some beads that we already had and to make a design.  I would have bought longer pins if I knew she wanted to use beads. But, of course, she had to be different!

Sequin Beaded Christmas Ornament

Here it is part way done. I won’t kid you. This takes awhile! I just kept it by my computer and worked on it a little each day. First I added all the silver and then filled in a few places with the turquoise.

Sequin Christmas Ornament Pins and Sequins

That’s it! Pretty simple but it will add a lot of sparkle to your tree!

Sequin Ornament on the tree

I love how it turned out! Have you made any simple ornaments for Christmas? I always love looking at others’ handmade crafts. Thanks for stopping by today!
