Desk Chair Makeover

Good morning! Are you snowed in where you are? I hope everyone is okay! We are finally having some much needed rain! I think I write about this every year, but it’s just been so long since we really had enough. Hopefully it keeps coming! I was also able to get a few projects done during my Christmas break, so here goes!

I found this chair by some trash cans while we still lived at the old house, so that is over a year ago. It’s just been sitting in my garage waiting for me. πŸ™‚ Haley took her desk chair to school with her and had been using one of my kitchen table chairs, so this was the perfect project for the desk in her room.

The chair was a dark brown so I primered it first. I always start with the chair upside down on a table. That way I am sure to get all the underneath parts and don’t miss anything that I have to try and touch up later. Once the underside is done, I turn it over and paint the top. So I started with the primer. I forgot to get a picture of just the primer so you can see some runs from the grey from when I painted the underneath side.

I went over the whole chair with grey paint next. This was paint I had from Haley’s bedroom. I don’t know the color because it was an ‘oops’ can at Home Depot. I found the fabric at Hobby Lobby at the after Christmas sale. I loved all the different pops of color in it! I can’t have anything too crazy in Haley’s room, so she actually helped picked it out.

I took my board for the seat of the chair and laid out the fabric under it. Then I cut the fabric to a couple of inches larger than the board. This will give me enough to staple onto the board.

Making sure the fabric is centered, I fold over the edge of the fabric to give it a little more strength. I start by stapling the fabric in the center of each side of the board, making sure it is a snug fit. Once I have the middle staple in, I do a few more on each side to keep it all even. For the corners, I fold it in to make a neat fold.Β  I have a couple of other posts about recovering chairs if you want to check them out, hereΒ and here.

Once the fabric was stapled to the seat board, I screwed the board back onto the chair. And it was finished! Sometimes I wonder why I put off things for so long, when in reality, it doesn’t take that long to do the whole project. Who knows?!

Now Haley can finally have a chair at her desk and won’t have to keep stealing my kitchen chairs! Lol!

I’m so glad I got this project done. One less thing in my garage. Now on to the next one!

I hope you all have a great week!

Happy New Year!

happy-new-year-linux-fans-413000-2.jpg 2018

Happy 2018! Can you believe it! Are you excited for the new year? Do you have big plans? The new year always gets me in the organize and throw out mood. I have been going through my Christmas stuff and throwing lots away and donating the rest. Since this was the first year I got to decorate this house, I wasn’t sure what I was going to use or what would work. Well, now I have a better idea and I am really trying to purge.

Did you go after Christmas shopping? I picked up a few items, like wrapping paper, ribbon and tags. I have a tote like this one and keep all my Christmas wrapping supplies in one place. I even keep tape, scissors and a pen in there. Whenever I buy wrapping supplies this is where I store it. It’s so nice to be able to pull out the box and have everything in one place.

I have also been going through my closet. I pull out the pieces I am not sure about and then try them on or plan to wear them one day. If I just don’t like it or it doesn’t fit, away it goes! It sure feels good to have more room in my closet. The hardest part for me is the shoes. Oh, I love my shoes!Β  I redid how I stored my scarves and gloves in my hall closet a few years ago and I still use this method. Here’s the post.

Do you love printables? Do you need a new calendar for 2018? The Cottage Market has so many cute ones! There are ones for Harry Potter, princesses, unicorns, floral and anything else in-between! I just printed off one for myself!

Did you party for New Years Eve? Better Homes and Gardens has all sorts of ideas for all kinds of parties! We just stayed home and had our traditional pizza dinner. πŸ™‚

Do you make resolutions in the new year or set goals? Do you have ideas of projects you want to do around the house or the yard? My list is too long to post here, but I want to work on my laundry room and I would like my side yard to look like this. I can dream can’t I?

Thank you so much for following along with me each week! I really appreciate all my readers and love to read you comments! I hope you have a blessed 2018!

Meowy Christmas!

IT’S ALMOST CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!Β  WHO’S EXCITED!!!!!!!!!

Not me…definitely not me…

Before we actually get to Christmas I wanted to show off some pictures of my Christmas kitties!Β  These first two I took myself.Β  And it will be quite obvious haha.

I love their “backdrop”. I added so many pink Christmas items that I had and they looked so cute with it.Β  Amelia (the calico) looks absolutely thrilled since I had to change the lighting like 5 times before I got that picture.Β  I think she was losing patience.Β  And Target (the tuxedo) was trying to get to the treats that I had in my hand.Β  She usually does things for treats (main word usually), so obviously she wanted them as I was shaking the bag to get her attention.

And I also took them to work to get pictures done as well.Β  If you don’t know, I work at a pet hotel in the local area where we can take our pets to work.Β  How cool is that?Β  We also get a small discount on all of our picture events which means I most definitely paid for their Christmas pictures.

They both look scared out of their mind!Β  I don’t take them to work that often, so that’s number 1.Β  Number 2, they normally just stay in their room no in the lobby where the pictures were taken.Β  And number 3, they just don’t like their pictures taken.Β  But I Love Them!Β  The pictures…my love for the cats is questionable sometimes.

I’m kidding I love my cats.

So that’s it!Β  I hope you enjoyed looking at my cats and laughing at their dismay in their photos.Β  I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and we will see you next week!

Star Wire Ornament

Hello everyone!Β  Here is a post from last year. Hope you enjoy!

This is a super simple project that my mom and I put together with the short amount of free time that we have had. Β Hope that you enjoy!

First of all, gather your supplies. You will need 2 gauges of wire, 20-24 gauge and a thicker one, around 18 gauge. You also need your cookie cutter and wire cutters.

Start by making a loop at the end of the thicker wire. I used a pencil and wrapped around it. Secure the end by wrapping it back around the wire.

Now you can wrap the wire around the cookie cutter. I ended up wrapping twice, just to make it stronger, but once will probably be enough. You want to be able to push it into the corners and around edges.

Once it is wrapped, secure it by wrapping around the part where the loop is. Then you can remove it from the cookie cutter. Cut off any excess with the wire cutters.

Now for the fun part! Start wrapping wire around the star shape. This is where you use the thinner wire. I just kept wrapping around all different ways until I felt like it was finished.

This will look so pretty on the tree! You could pick different colored wire too, like copper or gold. Β I tied a sheer white ribbon around the top. I did try with with a heart shape too, but it didn’t have enough edges to keep the wire in place. Too bad, because it would have looked really cute :(.

Aren’t these cute? Β They are so simple and are a quick and easy project. Β Hope that you all have a wonderful week before Christmas!
