Super Cute No Carve Pumpkins

Hello everyone and welcome to another fabulous blog post.  I loved working on this post and I hope that you enjoy it as much as I do!

So I was toodaling around the intranet (also known as the internet for those who don’t understand young adult lingo lol) and came across this wonderful blog post on Simple as That.  Okay, so my mom found it for me, but it is still adorable!  Rebecca made these cute no carve pumpkins, so I wanted to make my own!  Check out her blog post by clicking on the picture below!

So here on Home on the Corner, I decided to try to make the fox and the owl.  Neither my mom or I are real big into raccoons, but he is still cute none the less.

Here are the supplies I used for these pumpkins.

2 Fake Pumpkins-I bought both of mine from Michaels.  Also, the turquoise one came that way.

1 Hot Glue Gun

1 Sharpie

1 Pair of Scissors

Lots of Felt!

Also, I have a pencil in the picture, but didn’t end up using it.

So I started with the owl.  I started with measuring my pink felt to see how big of a wing I wanted.  I folded the felt in half and drew what I wanted my wing to look like and cut it out.

Next I took the beige color and drew what I wanted for a belly.  I drew a half circle since the bottom of that piece wouldn’t be seen.

I then went for the nose.  I just cut a small triangle out of orange felt to make a nice small beak.

The final part was the eyes.  Unfortunately, I was so excited to get them done that I didn’t take a picture…sorry.  But, I took white felt and used the bottom of a candle to make big bug eyes.  I then used my sharpie to draw little pupils in the eyes.

Then I moved onto the fox.  I used the white felt to draw the face.  I wanted her to have a bit of a mask, so I made a slit down the middle to symbolize the snout.  From there, I went to draw on two little eyes and a nose.

I then took the beige fabric to make another tummy.  I did the same half circle shape for her little tummy.

Finally, I took some orange felt and leftover white to make the ears.  I wanted them to be a bit big, so I over drew them and trimmed them where I needed.

The final step for both of these pumpkins was to hot glue everything on!  This was by far the most exciting  because I wanted to see the finished product!

And here you go!  The final look of my owl and my fox!

I think that they are absolutely adorable!  I love how they turned out and can’t wait to find where I want to use them as decoration.  I know I didn’t put a tail on the fox, but I ran out of orange and white felt and didn’t have any orange paper to make a tail.  I’m sorry…I failed at making a fox!

But in all seriousness.  They are super cute and super easy to make.  I love how they turned out and I hope you found this tutorial easy to follow!

Finds and Fashions-Sept.21, 2016

I finally have some finds and fashions for you today!  I’ve been trying not to buy too much because of course, then I just have to pack it! But I did pick up a few new fall things for the house.

I found all these pieces at the same thrift store and I love how they all went together! This white berry wreath would be good for just about any season. It’s nice and neutral for any decor.

I love these candlesticks! I originally was going to paint them black for a Halloween tablescape, but I like them so much, I am going to leave them as they are!

Aren’t these napkin rings the coolest! Haley thought they would make a great bracelet, but they don’t really stretch. I really like it with the turquoise napkin.

I also picked up this dress at a yard sale for $1.50. It still had the tags on it and it fits great. This will be perfect for the cooler weather with a light jacket or sweater over it.

Corner News-September 17, 2016

House update: Our house is sold!!! It only took 4 days and we were even offered a little bit more than what we put in on the market for! Now we just have to have everything else go smoothly and that part will be done. We have been looking at houses to buy too and boy, is it tiring and overwhelming! There are so many different aspects to look at, sometimes my brain goes on overload. I know the right one will come along, hopefully sooner, than later!

Last weekend, Haley had a friend visiting from Florida, and since my brain was tired, we spent the day along the coast. We live about 2 hours from the coast, so it makes a nice day-trip. coastal-views

It was overcast and slightly foggy, but we could still wear shorts and t-shirts. Perfect! We walked a trail along some cliffs that took us to some areas with tide-pools.

Beautiful wildflowers along the way.

Unfortunately, the tide was still pretty high, even at low-tide, so we weren’t able to see too much sea life. But it was still nice to hear the sounds of the sea and smell the salt air.

We combed through the rocks and shells and found plenty to bring home.

It was so nice to get away for even just a little bit. I hope you enjoyed this little picture get-away too! Have a wonderful weekend!

Headboard to Project Helper-Part 1

Hello everyone!  I am going to apologize in advance for how short this blog post is.  It isn’t super amazing, but I am going to show you the beginning.

So I bought this headboard from a yard sale a few months ago.  I thought it looked absolutely adorable!  I loved the look of it and I can’t wait to do something with it.

full-headboard

I love the details on the posts of the headboard.  It has so many corners on it, but the ball on top of it adds to it.

And finally, the slats on the headboard are so cute!  And I have a great idea for them!  I want to buy some hooks to hang screw into the slats to hang buckets off of.  In the buckets, I want to hold things like paint brushes and small tools.  This would be so handy for when mom and I are working on bigger project and need all of our tools in the same spot.

Again, apologies for such a short blog post.  I wanted to show this off before I paint it and finish the look.  It will look so much better when it’s done!
