More Bedazzling Shoes!

Hello everyone!  So, I want to inform you that last week’s blog post was a lead up to this weeks post!  Hooray!  So, if you don’t remember last weeks blog post, click here and read it first!

So, my niece’s birthday is coming up at the end of the month, and being the awesome aunt that I am (cough cough  plugging myself for being the best aunt ever lol), I love making her gifts.  So, my niece is turning 4 and love Minnie Mouse.

But then again, I love Minnie Mouse as well, so we have the same taste in Disney stuff.

I decided that I wanted to make her a pair of shoes with Minnie Mouse on them.  Now, I had an idea where I put Minnie Mouse on the side of a pair of Toms knockoffs like my shoes that I did last week.  Unfortunately, Walmart does not carry Toms style shoes like I wanted.

So these were my two choices.

Now why these two pairs of shoes?  First of all, the brown and pink ones are just absolutely adorable!  And the white one were just simple.  I thought about the white shoes because then I could do the classic Minnie Mouse.  But then…my niece will be four and the shoes will not be white for long.  So….I went with the brown and pink.

I then went to Michaels and bought black, white, and pink gems to put on the shoes.  Here was my biggest issue…finding the same pink as the shoe laces!  Michaels had one package that had pink gems and it only had 13 gems in it.  But, with the help from mom I was able to gain more pink gems.

So I found an outline of Minnie Mouse online and printed it out to measure for the front of the shoe.  It took two or three tries, but I got the perfect size.  I then took a pencil and sketched around the Minnie Mouse outline.  I had to cut the inside of the outline to get the bottom of the bow.

And after a lot of sticky fingers and incorrectly placed gems (oops) I finally got the shoes done!

I think they are absolutely adorable!  I added some gems to the sides of the shoes next to the laces and a small line on the back of the shoes to add a little bit of extra bling.

They are so cute!  I hope my niece is as excited to open them as I am to give them to her.  They were so easy to make and I hope that she gets a lot of use out of them!

DIY Dog Cross-Body Carrier

Hello! Welcome back to Home on the Corner! I missed Finds and Fashions yesterday, so today I am showing you a simple project for your special pet. I put dog in the title, but it could be for something else small like a cat or guinea pig or whatever other critter you might have!

Our dog Chica is 16, but she still likes to go places with us. The problem is she can’t walk very far. Lauren and I found this idea somewhere on the internet, but I don’t know where as it was several years ago. We were going on a long walk at the coast and knew Chica wouldn’t make it the whole way, but I also couldn’t carry her the whole time without some support. So we thought we would give this project a try and it was really easy.

We took a piece of fabric 26″ wide and 58 inches long. If you have a really small pet, you would want to go with a skinnier piece, but probably the same length.

I don’t know why these pictures are so blurry, but I am sure you will get the idea. Hem each side of your fabric. This will keep it from fraying when you wash it. After it is hemmed, fold it in half so it is a long skinny piece. I guess you would fold the width in half.

Then fold it again so the open ends are together. Fold the length in half. (This took a lot of thinking on my part to figure out how to explain it!! :))

Now you are going to sew the open ends on the short end of the fabric together. When you are finished, you will have a long tube that is open along one long side.

That’s it for the sewing! Now it is time to test it out. The carrier will go over one shoulder and under the other arm. The pouch opening should be on the top. Open it up and place the animal inside. This usually takes 2 people-1 to hold the carrier open and the other to place the pet inside. Munch had never been in one before, but she didn’t seem to mind at all! Her bottom fits right down into the pouch and she is able to sit comfortably. If your pet is in far enough, you don’t have to support them at all.

This carrier really helps to keep the weight off your back and shoulders and also helps the animal feel secure. Munch never fidgeted or tried to get out. Chica was the same way, even the first time we used it.

We have used this many times over the last couple of years and it has definitely come in handy, especially with an older dog.

I would love to know if you have ever tried a carrier like this and what your experience was! Let me know in the comments!

Falling Leaves Door Hanging

falling-leaves-title

Good morning! I have a very simple project for you today!

I already had all the supplies for this project. I found a stick in my backyard, I had twine, but you could use string or yarn, and a package of faux leaves. You could use real ones too, but our leaves aren’t turning yet, so no pretty colors could be found!

I started by tying a piece of twine on the stick, long enough so the stick would hang at a good length. Then I added different lengths of twine to hand downward.

Next step is gluing. I used hot glue, but please be careful of your fingers! I added the leaves in random order, but about the same distance apart. I used mostly yellow and orange, with just a few red ones so they would really stand out.

And that’s it!! I spent maybe 15 minutes to complete this project. The gluing took the longest, but it is really so simple!

After seeing the pictures, I though it would be so pretty to add some pretty bling and then hang it in a window so it would be sparkly. Maybe I will have to add some!

I hope you all have a wonderful Monday!

Adding Some Dazzle to an Old Pair of Shoes

Hello everyone!  Is it fall yet?  Because out here in California it is still 90 degrees almost all week and I could really use a rainy cold day.  Wouldn’t that be nice?????

Well, this weeks blog was an experiment for a present for a friend of mine.  I wanted to try this on something that I had before I put I worked on something and I didn’t like how it turned out.

So, I want to bedazzle a pair of shoes for my friend, but wanted to bedazzle a pair of my own shoes to see if I liked it or not.  My supplies included a pair of shoes that I drew on, Jolee’s Boutique scrapbook embellishments, and fabric glue.

Now, I already had the design drawn on the shoes, so I didn’t have to worry about messing up.  But, I definitely suggest drawing on the shoes before doing anything else.  It makes your job 100 times easier.

And then I didn’t know what would be easier to put the black gems on.  If I put the glue on each gem individually, or if I smeared the glue on the shoe and then stuck the gems on.  So, here’s my verdict.  Putting glue on each gem individually makes the line nicer, but smearing the glue on the shoe is much faster.

So it’s up to you what you what you want to do!  The picture on the left is glue on each gem and the picture on the right is the glue smeared on.  Don’t worry, the glue dries on clear.

And after you spend however long sticking your gems on the shoes, you will have a completed look!  Whatever you decide to put on your shoes, or whatever you decide to bedazzle, it will look awesome!

I love how the turned out!  Obviously, the glue hadn’t completely dried in the picture, but it did dry completely clear and they look awesome!  I am happy with how it looks and cannot wait to compete the project for my friends present!

Fabulous Finds and Fashions-More Premier Designs!

Hello everyone!  Welcome to another Fabulous Finds and Fashions!  This week, I am going to show you…MORE JEWELRY!

I am now a seller for Premier Designs, so I recently received my boutique.  This is basically the best thing ever!  There was so much jewelry and I cannot wait to wear it all and show it off to my friends and family who are hosting shows.

So here are some of my favorite pieces.  The first necklace is called Stunning.  It is a four layered necklace and each piece can be worn as a separate necklace.  So basically you have a four in one necklace!

Next is the Spring Break necklace.  I don’t normally go for this kind of necklace, but this one is really pretty.  This one can be worn as two separate necklaces.

The third necklace is called Fine Art.  Again, it can be worn as two separate necklaces and it is super pretty!  It has a bit of a Aztec feel to it with the color combination.

Next are two of my favorite bracelets.  The first one is called On the Edge and it is a wrap around bracelet.  It has two snaps on it the back so it can be worn at two different sizes depending on the size of your wrist.  I also like the gold chain, on the outside.  How pretty is that?  The other bracelet is called Starlet.  The bracelet come in two different colors and it also has the two snaps on the back.  I also like the blingy pieces, but then again, who wouldn’t?

Finally, my two favorite rings are Stately and Sophia.  Stately is blingy and very girly where as Sophia is a bit more reserved.  Sophia also looks great with the In the Loop earrings.  They have the same patterned design on them would look great together.  The other earrings are Round About.  Again, not my normal look for earring, but I really like them.  I don’t know why, maybe my style is changing.

And that is some of my favorite pieces from the Premier Designs boutique.  I cannot wait to wear them out and about to see what others think.  If you own any Premier Designs jewelry, do you have a favorite piece?  Let me know in the comments below!
