Creative Easter Eggs!

I AM SO SORRY FOR THIS BEING LATE TODAY!  WE HAD NO INTERNET YESTERDAY SO I COULDN’T UPLOAD UNTIL NOW!  PLEASE ACCEPT MY APOLOGY!

So, Easter is coming fairly soon (April 16th to be exact).  And of course, what is the number one thing that people think of for Easter?  PEEPS!

No, just kidding. It’s the Easter eggs.

And don’t you think that most Easter eggs are boring?  They are just a single color, for the most part, with nothing creative.  So here are some ideas for how to have more creative Easter Eggs!

Supplies you need are eggs, glue, glitter, ribbon, acrylic jewels, and any other things that you think you want to decorate your plastic eggs.

Easter Eggs Supplies

So I started with a pink egg (obviously).  It is very simple and I knew what I wanted to do on the egg.

I took my glue and drew my own design in it to cover with glitter.  I decided to draw a sun with some other designs like dots and swirls.

Next, I went with a yellow egg.  This one was going to get a very simple makeover.  I decided to use my pink ribbon to add something to the egg.

Finally, I went with a green egg that has white polka dots on it.  So, it is a little more creative.

So I decided to add a little glue to each dot and bedazzle it!  Is that super obvious for me?  Here is the first one I did before I covered the egg.

I love how they turned out!  They were super easy and it only took about 10 minutes for each egg! I did have some trouble with the green egg because while the glue was drying, the jewels slipped into a different spot.  But, they still look pretty!

Corner News-April 2. 2016

Hello! Hope you are having a wonderful Saturday and weekend! I don’t have much to share today. I haven’t been feeling very inspired lately :(.

Here is our family picture from Easter. The weather was absolutely perfect for an Easter morning.

This is one project I worked on during my spring break. See the cover? And the guilty party?! This happened awhile ago, but with my ‘love’ for sewing, I kept putting it off. I finally just made myself get it done.

I used a painters canvas for this cover. This is probably the fourth one I have made (not because of Rozy!). The canvas was really easy to use and it was great to have the edges already hemmed. That is one of the parts I really dislike about sewing. Too monotonous! I used all the hemmed edges for the skirt part of the slipcover.

The pillow top cover is a giant envelope cover. This way I can take it off and wash it whenever it needs it. This is often with so many dogs! Isn’t the bicycle pillow cover awesome? They have some great deals on Amazon, under $5.00 and they are so much easier to store than pillows are.

Corner News-March 26, 2016

Hello!  And welcome to another edition of the Corner News.  It is getting close to the end of spring break (can it last another two months?) and the weather is changing.

Since Easter is tomorrow, I am sharing what I am wearing.  I purchased this coral Forever 21 dress back in November from the clearance rack.  I love the accents on the straps and that there are pockets.  I can’t wait to actually wear it for an occasion and not have it just sit in my closet.

Second thing on the docket: since Zoella has turned into mom’s dog (boo hoo), I have adopted another dog.  I had my eye on my dog, Karli, since she entered the shelter back in October of 2014.  I thought that she would be adopted right away, but she sat at VAH until February of 2016, when I adopted her.  I take her to work everyday and have a lot of fun living with her.  She is such a goof and can be a brat, but I love her all the same.

Here is Karli, wearing bunny ears and a boa for the Easter pictures at work.  Doesn’t she look adorable?

And, I also found the cutest dog bed for her. Not only is it better than the bed that I made for her (which was two pillows that I sewed a pillowcase around) and it even matches my room.  Karli enjoys the new bed much more that the original bed.

Well, that is it.  This has been another edition of the Corner News.  I hope you enjoyed it and I can’t wait to see you next week!

Turquoise & White Spring Tablescape

Just one more week and it is officially spring!! We have definitely been having the ups and downs of spring weather over here. We have one day of rain and then later in the week we are wearing shorts! I am so looking forward to wearing more springlike clothing. I’m getting tired of my winter stuff!

I always have fun coming up with new ways to decorate my table for the seasons. The table we use was my grandparents. We refinished it many years ago, before we had kids, but it really needs another refinishing or painting. Because the top has seen better days, I use a tablecloth over it and it is usually this white one. This way I can do any color scheme I want. Of course, it usually includes turquoise!

I layered a burlap piece with black fleur-de-lis over the tablecloth. This was a piece from Lauren’s stash. I placed a wooden tray in the middle and filled it with springtime goodies.

I set the place-settings at the ends of the table a little different than the sides. For the side seats, I just added a turquoise plate with a pretty napkin. I will show you in a bit where the rest of the items are stored.

For the ends, I first placed a rattan place-mat and then added turquoise plates with white polka-dots and a pretty white one on top. The napkin is also turquoise and white polka-dots. A little secret-it’s the same as the other napkin, just the other back side!

Did you notice the flatware? I have had these for quite awhile and don’t use them very often, so I thought I would pull them out and let them be used. I love the little touch of whimsy!

I transformed my hot chocolate bar into a self-service bar. I have more plates, flatware and glasses for easy access. Just add the food and it is all set to go!

I love being able to change things up and I especially love decorating for spring! If you would like to take a look at last years table, here it is. Just beware-the pictures are not very good! Can we say blurry?! Here is Lauren’s table too. Hope you have a spring filled day!!
