Acacia Haze

I’m back today with Sherwin-Williams Color of the Month. For February, it is Acacia Haze. This one has a greyish-greenish tone to it. Sherwin-Williams says, “Blurring the line between pastel and neutral, Acacia Haze calms and soothes like a gentle whisper. It’s an ideal color for bedrooms, reading nooks and other cherished retreats.”

Here are a couple of accents colors Sherwin-Williams chose to go with Acacia Haze. I really like the Rojo Dust. It’s so pretty!

It coordinates well with these other gray tones.

I like it in the picture below. It looks great with the farmhouse looks, but works well with other styles too.

Here you can see the green tone in it. I would think the color would depend on the light in the room and the other colors you put it with.

What do you think? Would you use this in a room in your house? What style do you think it you look great with? Hope you have a great week!

Meowy Christmas!

IT’S ALMOST CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!  WHO’S EXCITED!!!!!!!!!

Not me…definitely not me…

Before we actually get to Christmas I wanted to show off some pictures of my Christmas kitties!  These first two I took myself.  And it will be quite obvious haha.

Amelia Pink ChristmasTarget Pink Christmas

I love their “backdrop”. I added so many pink Christmas items that I had and they looked so cute with it.  Amelia (the calico) looks absolutely thrilled since I had to change the lighting like 5 times before I got that picture.  I think she was losing patience.  And Target (the tuxedo) was trying to get to the treats that I had in my hand.  She usually does things for treats (main word usually), so obviously she wanted them as I was shaking the bag to get her attention.

And I also took them to work to get pictures done as well.  If you don’t know, I work at a pet hotel in the local area where we can take our pets to work.  How cool is that?  We also get a small discount on all of our picture events which means I most definitely paid for their Christmas pictures.

They both look scared out of their mind!  I don’t take them to work that often, so that’s number 1.  Number 2, they normally just stay in their room no in the lobby where the pictures were taken.  And number 3, they just don’t like their pictures taken.  But I Love Them!  The pictures…my love for the cats is questionable sometimes.

I’m kidding I love my cats.

So that’s it!  I hope you enjoyed looking at my cats and laughing at their dismay in their photos.  I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and we will see you next week!

Last Minute St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!  What a wonderful holiday where we all wear green and pinch people who aren’t wearing green.  What a great day!

What???  You didn’t realize today was St. Patrick’s Day???  Well…here are some last minute ideas that you can pull together to still celebrate with the rest of us!

-For breakfast eat green eggs and ham!  You could also have some green milk to finish off the meal.

-Now onto to what to wear.  Obviously green.  But, you could also spruce up your outfit by wearing these adorable shamrock hairbows or the headband.

St. Patricks Day Bows

-You know what else you can do?  Paint your nails super festively.  I recently painted my nails gold with gold sparkles on top to be like the pot of gold.  Of course you could do green with shamrocks, or something of the sort.

-Want something fun to do?  How about some St. Patrick’s Day Mad Libs!  You can find some really cute ones by just searching for them on Google.

-And finally, what about something really sweet for desert?  How about McDonald’s Shamrock Shake?  If you like mint ice cream, then you will love this milk shake.  But it is only available through today, March 17th.  So get it today if you want it!

I hope this helps you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.  This is something short and sweet and really easy to complete!

99 Cent Store St. Patrick’s Day

Hello everyone!  I hope you all enjoyed our Facebook Live last Friday!  If you missed it, you can check it out on Hometalk’s Facebook!

Also, I know what you are thinking.  ‘Lauren, you did a 99 Cent Store Valentine’s Day, why are you now doing St. Patrick’s Day?’  Well, first of all, it’s the 99 Cent Store, what can go wrong?  And second of all, everything is only 99 cents, so you can buy tons of stuff!

So, of course with Valentine’s over, the next special holiday is St. Patrick’s Day!  Or, Easter if you don’t really care about St. Patrick’s Day.  But, this holiday is perfect for Decorating with the Pantone Color of the Year: Green!

Naturally, I bought two garlands that were green with shamrocks.  They look really cute all wound around the ends of the bookshelf.  And of course, the cats were soooooooo helpful while I was trying to decorate.

Next is this cute shamrock cut out sign.  I got two of the in the pack, but I only ended up hanging one.  I love how the middle is gold and the rest is green and sparkly!

Then I got a green garland shamrock hanging….thing.  I don’t really know what to call it, but it looks really cute under our message board.  Yes, we did have something else there for Valentine’s Day, but why not switch it out for a different holiday.

Next, we of course have coins!  I got green and gold plastic coins and scattered them around the table.  Honestly, the cats will probably enjoy them after the holiday.

And finally, the part that the cats hated the most.  I, of course, saw these little plastic hats and had to buy them.  For the cats and for no other reason.

And of course they hated me while I was attempting to take pictures.  Target looks absolutely adorable, but Amelia not so much.  She didn’t like how it looked on her I guess.

Decorating with the Pantone Color of the Year: GREEN!

Hello everyone!  I am extremely sorry for not posting last week.  I am so forgetful in my old age.

I’m only 22, but sometimes I feel like I’m 50 with how often I forget stuff.

Did you know that Pantone has a color of the year?  Yeah, it’s a real thing!  And this year’s color is representative of rebirth and new life.  It also represent vitality, which is perfect in the upcoming spring season.

So, the Pantone color of 2017 is Greenery!  Which, is not a top color for me, but mom decorates with it all the time.  So, I am going to show you how to add more green to her formal living room.  If you don’t remember what it looks like, click on the picture below to check it out.

First of all, look at these awesome chairs! They are modern and chic, and I’m pretty sure they would look great in any room.  I love the modern look and they would look great with a dark wooden table.

But you know what these chairs would look great under???  How about some green lampshades!  Why not change out the blue printed lantern shades with these awesome green ones!

Now what about on the table?  How can we make these beautiful lanterns look even better and more GREEN???

How about adding green fairy lights???  They add mystical lighting to any room.  Or, it makes it more festive for St. Patrick’s Day!

Did you know that small changes can give a room new life?  You could keep all of you white modern dishes and add something cute like this green chevron tablecloth to turn a room from ultra modern to fun and funky!

You can also change up some of the pieces that you hang on the wall to change the style of the room.  One of the things you can use to cover more space is hang a tapestry.  Here is a beautiful mandala tapestry that covers a lot of wall space.

Or you can hang a new funky wreath on your wall!  Did you know wreaths aren’t only meant for doors? You can also cut branches from your trees or bring plants in to not only bring in green, but add some other color!

Now what about the day bed that all the animals love to sleep on?

sweet-something-valentines-living-room-daybed-red-heart-rozy

How about some green pillows?  Did you know that switching out your pillows can change up the feeling in the room?  Just changing your pillows can change the entire look of the room!

Or maybe a green quilt?

OR MAYBE you put another throw blanket to put on top of the quilt.  Did you know that adding multiple blankets makes the space look cozier and comfier?

And, how about instead of the dog sleeping on the bed, they get their own green bed???

There are so many possibilities with the color green!  I hope that this has given you lots of new ideas for how to decorate with the color green!
