Halloween End Table

Ooga Booga!  Did I scare you??  Just Kidding 🙂

So my roommates and I don’t do a whole lot for Halloween, but I decided to do a  bit of decorating for fun.  So, with the help of my lovely mother, I bought some items from the Dollar Tree to decorate an end table.

So here it is!

Halloween Decor

The decor originally started the green cat that my roommate Hannah so lovingly named Randall and the pink BOO sign.  So I tried to think of of other things that went with pink and green.  Thankfully, black is a main color of Halloween, so it all worked out.

So I bought another cat like Randall who is much smaller and black; her name is Regina.  I also bought a small crow to add a “real” Halloween touch, I thought it looked good on sitting on top of the BOO.

I also had a spiderweb that originally had 3 glow in the dark spiders.  By the way, those spiders are now hidden around my apartment for my roommates to find.  But, I cut those spiders off and added a larger spider to make it a bit more realistic.  I also wrapped a black tinsel with silver skulls added in around the table.  Aren’t those skulls scary?

Finally, I added a green and black sign with some delicious meals for Halloween.  Don’t they sound completely edible?  I also added a black candle holder with a white candle.  It’s a nice juxtapose to the Halloween theme to have a candle.

So, that’s my decorations.  I love how it turned out and love how it isn’t too much.  It is nice to be a little bit festive with my roommates and not go too over the top.  Now, I hope my roommates don’t scream too loudly when they find the spiders!

Fall Tablescape-Lauren Edition

Hello everyone and welcome to the only non-Pumpkin Spice blog you will see.  Just kidding, I’m sure there are other bloggers who don’t like Pumpkin spice. Now, Caramel Apple Spice, I will write about that!

But, I digress.

My roommate Hannah decided to decorate the living room with fall decor.  So, I decided to decorate the table for fall.

Fall Tablescape

My dishes are red and yellow which are perfect fall colors.  I used my large and small plates, my bowls, and even my matching coffee mugs.  I love how the dishes look in the alternating colors and it is perfect for fall.  I also added a homemade Caramel Apple Spice packet to each mug for my guests to enjoy.

My centerpiece includes a basket of fruit, some cardboard pumpkins, a candle, and some fun scarecrows.  Though there isn’t a whole lot of height difference, I still like how it turned out.

I love how it turned out!  It isn’t screaming fall, but you can definitely tell there is a theme going on here.  Next week, you will see mom’s version of what a fall tablescape should look like!

Recycled Pallet Table

Today we are back with our regularly scheduled program! Back to the DIY and recycled projects! Today is a pretty simple one…and it’s made from pallet wood! We have a whole pile of it and finally came up with a project.

It started out with the base of the desk my daughter took apart for her bench project.

We still had the metal base left over. I wanted to use it for something, so I finally decided to try a table, even though it’s a little tall. I tried a piece of chalkboard first, thinking I would paint it black and then could write different things on it for get-togethers. But I didn’t really care for it, so I laid a couple of pallet boards across just to see how it would look. The vote was unanimous! We all went for the pallet wood!

My husband added a couple pieces of wood underneath, just to give some support, and that was about it. All the pieces were screwed together and I have a ‘new’ table! I love it!

Parisian Tablescape

I have never been one to have a fancy table for a few reasons.  1: I live with other people. 2: I never sit at the table to enjoy the tablescape.  But, I have decided that I would actually put a tablescape together.

So TADA!

I used a grey scarf as my table runner to keep the table neutral and use other colors to pop.  I added a lot of Paris style items to the middle as a centerpiece.  You will be able to see the centerpiece shortly.

Now…I actually used my roommate Lydia’s dishes because I have red and yellow dishes.  So I had the large plate, the salad plate, and the bowl because you never know what you will need for a meal.  I added the silverware and a glass to finish off the setting.  But, to add a pop, I added a small glass bowl with a pink cupcake that my roommate Danielle had made.  Yum!

For the centerpiece, I used quite a few different items.  The best piece is the old film camera.  I don’t have any film for it, but it still works!  I am able to zoom, click, and “turn the film” which is fun.  I added a pink Eiffel Tower that holds my photos and a mason jar that my mom covered with scrapbooking paper and stickers for my bedroom.

On this side of the centerpiece, I have a mannequin jewelry holder that I bought from Ross and another small mason jar that my mom redid.  You can now see the camera from a different point of view.

And to finish off the centerpiece, I have this wonderful bottle of Van Ruiten Chardonnay that hasn’t been opened yet.  It is a great addition to the centerpiece and hopefully when I open it, it will be delicious.

So that is my tablescape.  I hope I can do more soon, if my roommates allow it…

Navy and Turquoise With Just a Touch of Red

Happy 4th of July week! It’s so great to see all the red, white and blue all over town and the blogosphere! It really puts you in the mood for fireworks, bbq and fun times! I did a very simple tablescape for the holiday. I don’t really use red in my decorating, so I kept it very light. But I DO use lots of blue and turquoise!! So that’s what I went with!

I still kept it coastal and beachy too with the driftwood bowl and glass floats and seashells. july tablescape centerpiece 3 A few candles add to the atmosphere. july tablescape centerpiece 2 I picked up these white and red metal plates several years ago at a thrift store and the small turquoise ones are from the 99 Cent Store. The woven place mats I just picked up at Goodwill last week. I was so excited to find them! They are so perfect for the beach theme! july tablescape placesetting The napkins are just pieces of material I ‘borrowed’ from Lauren’s fabric stash. july tablescape placesetting 3 I love adding the red and white straws to the glasses! july tablescape simplicity The red watermelon was the perfect accent! Do you find, that once you cut up some fruit, it gets eaten much quicker? My watermelon was completely eaten by that evening! july tablescape watermelon I hope you all have a wonderful 4th of July!
