Pink, Blue and Gold Party Tablescape

A couple of weeks ago, Lauren hosted a jewelry party at my house, so I prettied up my living room for the occasion! I set up a small buffet table with a few snacks on it. One of my sweet neighbors, asked if I had been baking again. Umm, no. I wish my treats looked so good! My tiered serving plate has a pineapple on top, so I covered up with some pretty hydrangeas.

I used a lot of pink, blue and gold for my colors. It looks so fresh!

Don’t those lemon tarts look yummy!

Since we are in this room, I thought I would share a few more pictures! I added a few pink plates on my shelves for spring. I left the lights up from Christmas. I love the way they add a little sparkle to the room.

Here’s my faux mantle. I made the mantle from an old headboard. You can see it here. I also made the driftwood sailboats. The window and chalkboard are usually here and I decorate around them.

The party Lauren had is by Premier Jewelry. Have you ever been to one of their parties or seen their jewelry? It’s so pretty! The magazines and pictures don’t do it justice.

I love pink peonies! Even though these are faux, I still think they are so pretty!

I hope you have spring and sunshine in your area this week!

A Not Even Close to Amazing Party!

Good morning! Can you believe it is already the second week of September? My class is going well so far and so enjoyable. We have been able to paint and have do some fun experiments. This week will be all about apples!  We taste them and we even paint with them! The kids love this one!

Last week was supposed to be at the launch party for Karianne’s book. Well, actually, the party happened, but I didn’t. My party, that is. Let me tell you about my day.

First of all, my alarm didn’t go off in the morning. Great way to start the day! I did make it to work just fine, but it’s always a little more stressful to start a day this way.

I was supposed to sign up for a class to take that day, but the person to give me the code to sign up, was off that day. So much for that!

I got home and started getting ready for the party. I baked cookies and set the table. About 3:50, I finally read a text about an auction I had won. I was supposed to pick up the auction by 4:00. Yeah, uh, not happening.

I wanted to print out cute little tags for the boxes the cookies were in. I created them and tried to print them, but, alas, no colored ink. Oh my. My mom to the rescue!

Lauren and I talked and she figured she should be able to make it to the house in time for the party. But when she checked again, we realized we had the wrong time for the party. We were off by an hour and had missed the whole thing. 😦

I was devastated!! I so wanted to party with Karianne! Wah! The day felt like such a failure!

But then I remembered what the book was all about. We are all amazing. Maybe not that particular moment or day, but we are all special. “It’s about grace and forgiveness and learning from mistakes and rejoicing and celebrating in every victory, no matter how small.” So even though I missed the party, I love how my party table turned out. And the snickerdoodles were delicious!

I know we have all had days like this. Let’s give ourselves a little forgiveness and realize just how special we are. Thank you, my friends, for visiting this blog and for continuing to support Lauren and I. Someday’s are harder than others, but we all have amazing-ness inside of us!

Posh N Sip Party! How I Got a Friend Started in PoshMark

Hello everyone!  I am here to plug an app that I have been using and it is great!  (By the way, this isn’t sponsored in any way, I just really like the app).  If you want to clear out your closet of clothes that you don’t want anymore and make a little money doing it, I suggest you use PoshMark.

PoshMark is an app that has been around for about 5 years.  It is like Ebay, but for anything fashion.  Clothes, shoes, jewelry, purses, make-up: you name it, it is probably there.  Everything is new or gently used and the app makes it very easy to sell your items and ship them to fellow poshers.

So, I hosted my first Posh N Sip on March 24th.  It is a party where you get together with your friends and family and help them get their closets started and help them make some extra money.  I invited quite a few people, but because of circumstances, I only had one guest.

I gave Bekah the rundown of how the app works.  I explained how to post items, how to make your pictures look good, and how to make sure that your items are seen by more people.  Here we were, both working on some items to sell!

Bekah

I love the white blanket that I use as my backdrop.  Bekah was using a pretty piece of fabric as her backdrop to make sure all her pictures have some similarity.

Here are the items I posted in my closet!

I have a Forever 21 shirt on top, a Mudd shirt on the bottom, and Out Jeans.  I hope they sell soon and can be better in someone else’s closet.

If you are interested in PoshMark, it is free and very easy to use.  If you have any questions, feel free to ask away and I will answer them as best as I can.  If you have a PoshMark account and are looking for more closets to follow check out my closet, @2smallofacloset, and Bekah’s closet, @bek21.

Let’s Get Crafty!

It was the week before school started and all through the apartment, not a student was happy, not one single one.  But Lauren came up with an idea to share with her friends, that involved so much crafting until the days end.

Okay, enough with the bad poetry (if you read that as the ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas poem, brownie points to you!).  Seriously, I hosted a crafting party!

One of my coworkers explained that she had wanted to complete a craft project but she didn’t want to work on it alone.  So, I decided to create a party where we could work on crafts, alone with some of our other friends and coworkers.

It started with an invitation that I created through an app and text/Facebook messaged all the people who I wanted to come.  It was a great invitation that I spent hours (sarcasm much? LOL) creating, so I must share it with you.

Invitation

So, I know my apartment can be somewhat hard to find, so I decided to add this beautiful sign on the door for people to see find the party!

Let's Get Crafty

I decided to be nice and added some items that people could use if they wanted to.  You know, just in case someone didn’t bring anything.  So, I had things like game pieces, bottles, sharpies, hot glue, etc., that people could use.

Craft Counter

Now, do you remember this Banksy box that I had in my bedroom?

Banksy Case

Well, I have been filling it with yarn that I had left after I finished a scarf.  And…the box was full.  Like, the zipper has broken because I have tried to squeeze so much yarn into the box.  So, I had the box out for people to use any of the yarn.  Unfortunately, it was only me who used it.

Too Much Yarn

And now, the guests started to arrive.  Food was set out and crafting began.  My coworker and close friend Elise wanted to paint some letters that she would later decoupage.

All black now!

Another friend Crystal, who I have had classes with at college, wanted to make a bracelet.  You know those friendship bracelets that kids made back in middle school?  Yeah, that kind.  But a complex design.

Almost done

My roommate Hannah decided to bring all of her crafting stuff to the party.  She brought a lot of stuff.

Hannah’s sister Sarah was also at the party.  She wanted to make burlap wine bags, so she had a lot of burlap to cut the bags out.

So what did I work on?  I was actually knitting a blanket.  I was taking some yarn that was in the Banksy yarn box and making a blanket.  I wasn’t expecting it to turn out this cute.

I actually think that it looks pretty cool!

And now all of the guests have left, the party needs to be cleaned up.  Anyone want to help?

Soup Party Table Setting

As the weather is changing and getting colder, there is nothing better than having a nice bowl of warm soup.  And sometimes, people have a soup party where they invite others over to bring a type of soup to share with everyone.  And even though I will not be hosting a soup party this year, I wanted to show what my table setting would be if I hosting a soup party.DSCF5201

It is very simple, I know.  But it looks elegant.

DSCF5206

I have grey place mats at each place setting.  I have added a bowl, a small plate for bread, a small mug, and a soup spoon.  It looks so nice!DSCF5207

I added a nice bowl that has woodsy stuff in it.  My roommate Hannah put this together, so I don’t know where she bought everything from, but it looks really pretty!

DSCF5208

The next thing I added was a glass cylinder full of colorful disco balls.  I bought the disco ball ornaments from Grocery Outlet for $1 a package.  I added a book underneath the cylinder to add height.  Plus all of the colors look cool when I take the picture with flash.

The last thing I added was this decoupaged  candlestick that I’ve shown you before.  It goes great with just about anything that I decorate with.  It adds a lot of variety in the heights of the centerpieces.

So that is it.  That is my table setting.  Nothing super fancy, but it does look very nice and inviting.
